America evolved from Britain. American English in terms of looseness is superior. Americans evolved in both directions. We are the stupidest smart folks in the universe. We have the best boxers yet we celibrate the brutes. We are at the top of the nutcase chain and we don't even realize it. Reverend Lennox Thomas was once the absolute best of all our specially theologians until he got run over by a tour bus. Again, evolution in action. It goes both ways!

Not really. If Adam and Eve never existed people would still be sinful and flawed. If you take the idea of original sin out of the equation that doesn't excuse all the sins people commit. My parents used to make me go to an Anglican church. For a short while our priest (or whatever he was called forgot) was doing a Christian mission in a different country. My father who was a scientist and was studying evolution at the time gave a book about it to the priest. He came to talk to me a few days later. I expected him to slander it, bit he told me this: "It's obvious that anyone who doesn't believe in evolution is sticking their head in the sand, but you understand, this stuff is beyond me." The ironic thing was that what he said to me prompted me to study religion and science, and now I'm an atheist because of his humble answer. Kind of ironic.

Last school year, our English teacher showed us a text about Scottish sheep, which became smaller because of the climate change. Between the 1970s and the 2010s the average Scottish sheep became 5% smaller. During the 1970s the winters there still were really rough, and most of the smaller sheep died every year while the big ones reproduced. When the Earth started to heat up more and more over decades, more and more smaller Scottish sheep could survive and reproduce.

+Andy McStab *_"Its natural selection, not evolution"_* This alone shows that you STILL have abso-fucking-lutely no idea about what evolution is. Natural selection is a mechanism by which evolution occurs. You STILL deliberately spread misinformation about evolution in order to deceive people. evolution: change of allele frequencies of species over time. Proven. Observed. Case closed. I have a serious problem for your mythology: How can an immaterial (not even energy, because energy and matter are equivalent) person (which itself is self-contradictory, because you cannot make sense of a person without first materializing it) interact with the material world? Please, do not respond with one of your childish excuses in the name of god! Go for it!

Andy McStab You implied that natural selection has nothing to do with evolution. And this view of yours is WRONG as it can only be. It is people like you that claim »it's just micro, it's just adaptation, and not evolution« *_"Evolution likewise is not merely change over time, or "allele frequencies", as you put it, as mere change could lead to ever decreasing states of complexity and function, something called "devolution", which, by necessity, is not evolution."_* Do you see? You are wrong AGAIN and thereby, you confirmed my view regarding your ignorance about evolution. How can you seriously thnk that a change in one direction is evolution, but not in the other direction? Do you still don't get it? Nature has no goals to accomplish. But you think it has to. You utterly failed. Try again. Why do I flame you? Because people like you are shameful and audacious individuals .

And when i asked "Provide evidence for your claims that dont rely on the bible to be true" He said the usual "Its in the bible its gods word you have to believe!" 2. Hypocrisy" Probably all you needed to do was explain to them how life started itself from nothing but a pool full of chemicals. We know that life can adapt to environmental changes but that's not the kind of evolution you are talking about. You are talking about chemicals becoming life, macro-evolution, which has never been observed and never been duplicated in a lab. If brilliant scientists can't create life in a sterile lab under perfect conditions, using pure chemicals, how do you think it happened by accident in nature? Deep time isn't an answer because scientists can now create diamonds in a lab in hours, which has long been held that they took billions of years to form. Time isn't the answer. The right conditions are the answer. The honest scientists know the impossibility of life coming about from nothing and have moved away from Darwin's theory because they see the mathematical impossibilities. Astro-biologist, Paul Davies puts it like this, “It's a shame that there are precious few hard facts when it comes to the origin of life. We have a rough idea when it began on Earth, and some interesting theories about where, but the how part has everybody stumped. Nobody knows how a mixture of lifeless chemicals spontaneously organized themselves into the first living cell.” Davies also observed that most theories of biogenesis, the idea of life just coming about from nothing, have concentrated on the chemistry of life but life is more than just complex chemical reactions. The cell is also an information storing, processing and replicating system so we need to explain the origin of this system and the way in which the information processing machinery came to exist. He emphasized the fact that the gene is nothing but a set of coded instructions with a precise recipe for manufacturing proteins. Most important, these genetic instructions are not the kind of information you find in thermodynamics and statistical mechanics, rather, they constitute semantic information. In other words, they have a specific meaning. These instructions can be effective only in a molecular environment capable of interpreting the meaning in the genetic code. The origin question of biogenesis rises to the top at this point. The problem of how meaningful or semantic information can emerge spontaneously from a collection of mindless molecules subject to blind and purposeless forces present a deep conceptual challenge, one that has never been explained. The foundation of evolution theory, gradual modification over time, slowly transforming genes that already exist, suddenly ran up against orphan genes, genes without parents in every taxonomic group studied so far. Looking at it objectively, the theory of evolution has been falsified. After careful study, evolutionists made a bold choice: they cut the theory's last connection to reality, declaring that the impossible is normal: of course genes are produced de novo! The new foundation of evolution theory is “POOF” - THERE IT IS.. (which sounds like the foundation of creation by Intelligent Design - de novo). For evolutionists, the theory of evolution can never die. The rest of us can see that Francois Jacob was right. Orphan genes reveal that macro-evolution does not represent reality, and is physically impossible.

@@TheGamingLegendsOfficial The reasoning they use goes like this, “we have all these genes that can’t be explained by slight successive modifications, so they must have arisen spontaneously out of nowhere. Because evolution is fact, this implies evolution can just take random material and create functional systems in a flash. We’ve made a fabulous discovery about the miracles of evolution even though we can’t demonstrate it experimentally.” It's just more evolutionary magic "Poof". The cell is an information storing, processing and replicating system so explain the origin of this system and the way in which the information processing machinery came to exist. The gene is nothing but a set of coded instructions with a precise recipe for manufacturing proteins. Most important, these genetic instructions are not the kind of information you find in thermodynamics and statistical mechanics, rather, they constitute semantic information. Nowan Inparticular "Mathematically, that only works if they're equal on all sides..." If you have forces acting on you from a large number of random directions they will tend to cancel out. Meaning that the resultant force will typically be much weaker than the scalar sum of all the forces acting on you. "Galaxy clusters aren't even & we should be feeling considerably more gravity from the galaxy cluster our galaxy is heading towards on a converging path with the Andromeda galaxy" Not sure I understand the problem. Of course we are getting more gravitational pull from objects closer to us. But we are falling freely through space, so we don't actually feel the force.

Scientific fact and scientific fiction cannot both be used in a biblical account. Let us take evolutionary theory. There are ten major problems with that thing. Scientific fact and not theory states that it takes information from here to the moon simply to make skin and this is scientific fact. Our greatest machine from CERN and that thing cost billions of dollars can barely make a single atom. I also have a great deal of difficulty reconciling how something which cannot think for itself just develop and birth itself. And also basic 9th grade biology tells us that between parents and its offspring that certain genes are turned on or off between the parents and their offspring, but evolutionary theory that information is added. What I do not understand is how that measures up to scientific fact because it states that multiple experiments by geneticists have been done which make an overwhelming case that adding information to smaller organisms cause them to explode. Also in humans we find that down syndrome is indeed caused by adding an extra gene which results in retardation so the scientific fact goes against the theory a great deal and I have not even listed the rest of problems or went into detail on either.

@wprandall2452 2 жыл бұрын
We have never seen a transitional species. Also there are animals that have remained the same for many millions if years. I have asked people to demonstrate evolution starting with an existing animal. This raises a question: Evolution can't explain the genesis of even the smallest creatures, yet you want to insist that it is totally true, and that it is science. If it isn't logical, it isn't science. So how does evolution start, seeing that nobody has seen it happen? No single work has ever been created over millions of years. Of course, you'll be waiting for millions of years and more to see it happen. Now maybe you're talking about "morphing" into some other form, but machines don't morph. They are many parts working together. "Transitional species" is also a joke, because you can never tell that a species that is complete came from another, unless of course God did it. So show me how an animal emerges from a preexisting organism.

hi Hemant. Another excellent video, thank you. The book that finally made me get evolution is "The Blind Watchmaker", also by Richard Dawkins. It made me realize just how coherent a theory evolution is. I also would recommend the book that got it all started, the Origin of Species. Darwin wrote in deferential, unassuming style, and given the period in which it was written, is a simply wonderful book. I first read the first and last chapters (because reading the whole book is quite an endeavor), but that was enough to inspire me to read the whole thing. One other thing I'd point out about the idea that the gods guide evolution somehow: evolution is cruel. it takes like forever. it tries just about every conceivable wrong way to do something before a better way is found. there is much waste and suffering associated with the evolutionary process. most mutations are bad news for the individual. why would the gods generate new species in such an indifferent, monstrous way?

Most of the confusion about it being "only" a theory comes, I think, from the colloquial use of the word "theory" - because in everyday life we often call a theory something that scientifically would be called thesis/hypothesis. So of course, the theory that the moon is made of cheese based on "oh, they look similar, how cool it would be if I was right!" isn't the same as a scientific theory basen on facts and evidence.

For a big portion of my life, I always believed evolution was not real and that it was a silly concept. Also I was never properly taught about evolution from K-12 nor did my parents understood the theory either so it wasn't completely my fault why I did not understand a complex theory like evolution. It wasn't until I sat down to one of my first college classes that I found out how awesome evolution was. It's funny too because everyone hated the professor (he was super strict) but I am ever so thankful towards him that he was able to break down biology and explain evolution to me, who had no clue and was amazed by it all. When I began to critically think about my life and understanding science and how the world works and then my own religious views began to break down. So it's very true that people who are against evolution also don't understand it. And I am a strong advocate about the theory of evolution being taught in public schools and should have a more stronger stance within the curriculum. Because if evolution taught me to finally understand science and critical thinking then we are truly holding back our own kids in this country.
@marquisarms7397
@marquisarms7397 3 жыл бұрын
There are ten major problems with it. The original purpose of college was to give you both sides of the argument and let you make your mind up which you will follow but unfortunately that is no longer the case. It is good to be exposed to multiple ideas, but when you are given only one side to choose of course you would say that this has to be the right answer, but what is not often discussed are the problems of this theory. Why that is I cannot say, but there are ten scientifically factual flaws with this theory. I say this because most people do not tend to separate scientific fact from theory in this context often. I will list some of these flaws here. In the first place, how does something generate from nothing? In the second place, it takes a combination of knowledge in chemistry large enough to go from here to the moon just to make skin. How much more will it take to make a person let alone the universe. Genetic experiments have confirmed that adding information to smaller organisms causes them to explode and we know that the disease called down syndrome happens when extra genetic material is added to a human which causes humans to be retarded. I say this in part because both sides should be known before reaching a premature conclusion. It is only fair that college students know the whole story before reaching a final conclusion.

Dr. Colin Patterson, a senior paleontologist at the British Museum (Natural History), was asked by Luther D. Sunderland why no evolutionary transitions were included in Dr. Patterson’s recent book, Evolution. In a personal letter, Patterson said: “I fully agree with your comments on the lack of direct illustration of evolutionary transitions in my book. If I knew of any, fossil or living, I would certainly have included them. You suggest that an artist should be asked to visualise such transformations, but where would he get the information from? I could not, honestly, provide it, and if I were to leave it to artistic licence, would that not mislead the reader?…Yet Gould and the American Museum people are hard to contradict when they say that there are no transitional fossils. As a palaeontologist myself, I am much occupied with the philosophical problems of identifying ancestral forms in the fossil record. You say that I should at least “show a photo of the fossil from which each type organism was derived.” I will lay it on the line-there is not one such fossil for which one could make a watertight argument.” Dr. Colin Patterson, copy of letter, dated 10 April 1979, from Patterson to Sunderland. Wow not what we got taught in school eh. They showed us illustrations of missing links that never existed and told us it was a fact. They built our world view on a lie.

Evolution evident in humans: 1 - bulging tendon that connects forearm to hand. Most Millennial or younger people do not have this tendon, as humans no longer require the extra strength it offered to climb trees with ease. Older humans do tend to have this. 2 - wisdom teeth - our jaws have become smaller as we no longer need to project our voices as much, or rip apart food with our mouths (hence cutlery). Wisdom teeth are missing from younger people as with our smaller jaws they are actually to the detriment of our health, and therefore have been excluded from new generations. And what's this about no transitional fossils? The lung fish and archaeopteryx are two prime examples of transitional fossils. The lung fish is evidence of life starting in the seas, and transitioning to land. The archaeopteryx is evidence (well I believe and other scientists believe) it's evidence for dinosaurs turning into birds, or at last one type of dinosaur.

Traditional evolutionary theory focuses primarily on the work of natural selection. Are there challenges to this emphasis by claiming that strong biases in the rates at which traits can arrive through variation may direct evolution towards outcomes that are not simply 'beneficial'? Could it be that instead, the most genetically available mutations dominated the changes in traits? Is it possible that nine out of 10 species on Earth today, including humans, came into being 100,000 to 200,000 years ago? It is a fact that species with large, far-flung populations-think ants, rats, humans-will become more genetically diverse over time?

The coolest evolution in real time is when species splits into many subspecies occupying large area. Very often the subspecies living next to each other can have fertile offspring, when the subspecies living farthest from each other cannot have fertile offspring. It means that subspecies living farthest from each other have become two different species. They evolved. Another scary example of evolution is when the germs evolve rapidly underneath the microscope. I sincerely believe that no major player will ever use Bio weapons for the very reason of fast evolution of the germs. In a secret Soviet city, they had an accident at the weaponized Anthrax factory. Everyone was preemptively vaccinated and meds were ready, and, yet, everyone exposed died! Because the strain of the weaponized Anthrax evolved while in storage!

You can always place god in the beginning. It can't be refuted. It can't be proven either. Sooooo, not really worth debating. What we can debate is his influence on the word AFTER that "beginning". Because that's where we can see inconsistencies with what we know, but even there, since we don'T know everything, you can always put god outside our light cone of knowledge, and whenever we reach further you just put him outside a little further.
@jakubpekarek6400
@jakubpekarek6400 9 жыл бұрын
+GreenOnionBrother Actually you can poke god out of the beginning also. That is as long as the opposing side claims that god "created" universe or "sparked" the Big Bang or whatever. All these are concepts of the first cause. Since god created time as well (surely, the creator created everything after all), there is an immediate contradiction. To "cause" a universe, there needs to be a causality or an equivalent relation between two consequent states (first universe does not exist, then it does) - this cannot be achieved without time or some sort of "supertime". Without time and causality already in place, god cannot perform the action of causing the universe, or creating the causality in the first place. This of course hold on the naive claim that universe came to be through action of god (literally caused or created). It is possible to concieve of sophisticated relations of god and the universe which do not need such constructs to take place. However these are far beyond comprehension of most people (since the universe needs to be understood from outside space-time concepts or at least relativistically), and thus can never be what religions actually assert. Since that is the case, the naive relation of god to the universe as propesed by religion is refutable. This is by the way only a "modern" rephrasing of an objection comming from India during time before Christ (after spread of the Old Tesament-based curture). Still not resolved by abrahamic religions, but still valid in modern scientific view. Oh, and sorry for writing so lenghtly comment.

+GreenOnionBrother The "God started it" bit is especially pointless, because obviously most believers do not just care about the idea of some distant creator, but imagine a god who considers mankind his masterpiece and still cares about them. But evolution clearly points to the idea that our human existence is just as much a rather random occurence as that of mice or cockroaches, however impressive we might seem. In any case, the fact that the universe existed for billions of years before the first life even started, then life existed for ages before humans came around (by which time 99% of all previously living things had already died) and the fact that life will continue long after fragile humans have died out makes it seems very unlikely that our occurence in time was in anyway planned or a particular highlight.

Jakub Pekárek Don't worry about the length, as long as it's interesting, I'll read it. I'm not terribly well versed in physics, but as far as I understand it, there are multiple levels of theories of the multiverse, do all of them assume that all universes where created at the same time? Then again, if he was just an entity from a different person, he'd still not be the first thing to ever exist. But there is a much simpler question that causes theists to stumble sometimes: If the human being is so complex and amazing, that it couldn't exist without and architect, then who create god, a being that is even more complex? Demian Haki True, most do, but I was talking theoretically. You could also argue, that he put everything in place in the very beginning, knowing that those building blocks of the universe would eventually lead to the existence of humans. So evolution etc. actually happened without intervention etc. Which effectively would still make humans the pinnacle of his plan or whatever. Bu Jakub does make a compelling case but I'm gonna have to read up on this.

So, if there wasn't ever an original sin, then what's the point of having a jesus? It's clear that in the bible, Jesus's primary purpose was to sacrifice himself and in doing so forgive humanity of it's original sin. But, wait! If evolution is true, there was no original sin, which means that there is no need for jesus to sacrifice himself for humanity... RIGHT?

One of the most important things to get with evolution is the need to get rid of essentialist categories (the way you showed with the taking-one-picture-a-day-throughout-your life analogy). Just like there never was a "first speaker of French" (because whatever arbitrary speaker you point to in the past, her language would have more in common with her father's than with that of a modern speaker of French), there never was such a thing as a first human (because whatever arbitrary person you point to in the past, she would have more genetically in common with her father than with a human today). You might as well say you are the first speaker of whatever your language will have evolved into in a thousand years.

Many people, when referring to evolving from primates, are not talking about modern primates. When somebody says "you believe we evolved from apes," they aren't talking about gorillas. The Australopithecus, although it may not be a modern ape, is still an ape. Saying that evolution is taking place is a complete joke. Adaptations and natural selection is taking place, and that may result in change in species and possibly even genus, but not families, orders, classes, phylums, and even kingdoms like you're suggesting. Evolution is a violation of the scientific method because it cannot be tested or observed, therefore making it not science. Evolution is a not a theory, all though it is labelled as that. It is simply a hypothesis with no evidence, failing to explain many basic things. There are many problems with evolution which prove it wrong. The "jigsaw piece which doesn't belong" is all over the puzzle. It cannot be tested or observed, and there's no evidence, so it is foolish to believe that evolution should even be defined as a theory. Give me one example of a transitional fossil that's been found. And even if you did find one, according to your theory, 99.9% of all species which have ever lived are now extinct. In order to prove that, we'd need to find at least five billion fossils, each being a different species.

+KingZam Well to be fair, quite a few atheists haven't read the Bible but so have quite a few theists.. So I can understand where he might be coming from.. Many atheists actually were theists in the past until they realized the bs. So yes, many atheists understand the bible and have read the bible because they actually BELIEVED in it at one point.. Hell, to this day, I still go back and read the bible. Disclaimer: (Some theists have deconverted to atheism and some atheists have converted to theism. Some people haven't changed and some people have changed.)

***** There are thousands of hidden meanings, prophecies, connections, messages, and ideas in The Bible. It could take years of study to fully understand it. Most atheist I've seen saying bad things towards the Bible take things out of context, get confused by simple messages, and don't understand why certain things happened because instead of reading it all, they take out certain parts to try and turn more people against God.

The Atheist Voice, I have a question. If apparently we first started as a fish, how was the first fish able to survive without food/prey? Was there a mutation, or a other animals that was prey to the fish? Another question is, if everyone was evolved in Africa, does that mean we're all a % black? Or depending on where you live, does that mean you get their features? For example, if I was born in Asia, does that mean I get their facial features? Because how was that mutation or feature created? - Please let me know any answers.

" If apparently we first started as a fish, how was the first fish able to survive without food/prey?" there was no "first" fish a bunch of bacteria evolved into multicelled organism that still ate chemicals only after this multi celled organism had recreated itself a bunch of times it evolved into fish at some point and again a bunch of them did over multible generations so the fish would prey on eachother of the bacteria that still existed " if everyone was evolved in Africa, does that mean we're all a % black?" no as the skincolor is not genetic to that degree but we are all african to some extent " if everyone was evolved in Africa, does that mean we're all a % black?" dude go to school and get basic biological education....

My biggest problem is when some people who go to school and study biology and accept EVERYTHING that the teacher says and what the text says, but when it comes to evolution, they flip trier shit. You simply cannot accept the facts given in subjects like biology, histology, and anatomy without accepting evolution.

The one where they say "it's only a theory" ...well , they're mixing it up with the word hypothesis. Theory is based upon reason and some facts and needs to have some evidence to support it while a hypothesis is, just an idea. Basically religion is a hypothesis.

The apparent lack of intermediate species in the fossil record is because fossil discoveries are so rare. Very few creatures die under conditions such that some part of the body is preserved. But even when it is, it will end up enclosed in sedimentary rock. There are millions of cubic miles of such rock, but the fossils can only be found when the are exposed on the surface. There could be a fossil inches below the surface of the rock you are looking at. Even those that are on the suface of the sedimantary rock are probably covered by soil or water, so only a minute percentage of existing fossils are ever found.

Some things I'd like to point out about Evolution: 1. Populations evolve NOT Individuals, so average variations in a population are capable of being advantageous, not just a single advantageous mutation in a single individual, propagating to the entire population over time. 2. Variations are Random, Selection isn't, as the selections are made by the interaction between the varied population and it's environment, which isn't random, but based on which variations give the population a significant breeding advantage (and thus appear in the next generation to be varied once again). 3. The rate at which a species evolves is NOT constant, it can slow down or speed up depending on the environmental pressures, rate of breeding, rate of mutations. 4. Not all species evolve at the same same rate, as the rate is mostly proportional to the breeding cycle, I.E. mice breed more in a given time than humans, therefor they evolve faster, fruit flies faster than mice, etc... 5. All advantageous variations are inevitably selected due to their ability to increase reproduction over those without them, not simply because they made the life form more "fit". 6. Life doesn't evolve features for no reason, for example a Cat won't evolve a wing unless there is an existing feature than can be transformed into one slowly over time, and at the same time the gradual loss of that existing feature isn't disadvantageous while the transformation into the wing is advantageous. To put this in laymen, a species only evolves if there is significant advantages to do so. This is why there still exists lifeforms such as single celled organisms, as they have filled a niche and don't require evolved complexity to significantly increase their ability to reproduce. 7. Mutations don't only Remove information, as a mutation can Modify existing information, or add New information via errors in the DNA copying process. 8. Microevolution is the same thing as Macroevolution except for the time scale, both are observations of the same changes, just over different time periods. I.E. Observing changes in three years, then observing changes in three thousand years. Same changes, different lengths of time, Micro vs Macro. 9. Populations are not always confined to one area, one environment, and since environments change over time, this leads to populations of a given species changing in different directions, and this is what leads one species to evolve into two or more different species.

Here is how as a species R are slowly evolving A) about 10% of people are missing a tendon in their forearms that is required if you walk using your arms (ape-like) and is not required in bipedal animals B) the appendix is 20% smaller than it was 400 years ago and could eventually disappear C) more people today do not have wisdom teeth compared to early records or anatomy from 1000years ago

If you put a mammal skull to your right, a ancient whale skull in your middle and a modern whale skull to your right you will realise that the nose of a mammal has shifted to the centre of a ancient whale's skull and is on the top of the modern whale, which has now become the blowhole. Therefore whales evolved from mammals they also have many similarities. In the end evolution is true.

Also, we DO have a crocoduck! Feathers? Wings? Stout stature? Powerful jaws with sharp teeth? Long powerful tail? It's a maniraptoran theropod dinosaur! An excellent transition between reptiles and birds! That's the REAL crocoduck! On the "God in control of evolution" thing, I actually can get that idea; primarily because if an entity that can control EVERYTHING created everything, well, who's to say he/she/it doesn't have a tinkering method for said everything? And for such an entity, millions of years would likely be very short.

Richard Dawkins actually explained this. It's obvious I can't tell you the exact process of each system but the idea is that everything evolves at the same time, going from a simple cell that accepts 'food' and then releases it as well as accepting oxygen and develops a basic circulatory system to having a full functioning circulatory system, a digestive system, etc. Every system works that way. He threw the example of the eye, which is a complex organ; he said that at the very first start we can speculate it would be just a lens that captures light and dark, as slowly as it evolves, it begins to understand how light and dimensions works, what the space is. And gradually is being refined. Also the way to evolve is by improving stuff from our body to be comfortable and having less trouble. So things get more complex with the time to make itself work better. That is the basic idea of evolution and an estimate answer to your questions if you like.
