Hi james or should I call you mr motivator. The engine looks really good. I love that colour. I bet you can't wait to see it in back in the boat. Great job.

What a whirlwind schedule including a brief interlude in the swimming pool changing rooms. I'm probably overthinking something, but the Lister now has a healthy ringing sound to it as if it has been relieved of a ton of sludge. It's like somebody blew its nose.

@@TheNarrowboatThatJamesBuilt how does the canal trust react to boats that don't look maintained? Is there assistance available?
@Subgunman Жыл бұрын
Wonderful progress on the boat! Not knowing the laws of the canals written and unwritten but if permissible a bicycle could save you some time from walking back and forth. A bicycle rack on both the car and boat is a way of transporting it between usage. As for the engine, as a gag you could have a sign maker do a transfer of the CAT logo that you could place on top of the engine when finished or "KITTEN" or KIT for short in the same font. BTW that Bimini top you have on your boat reminds me of the tops we used up in the Great Lakes on our boat. We had full zippers sides where we could tent up for the night and sleep an additional two on the stern. The windows could be replaced with screens for those warm nights to keep out the flys and skeeters. Memories!
@TheNarrowboatThatJamesBuilt Жыл бұрын
I’d love windows on my Bimini - bikes are fine but a hassle living like I do

Seeing as it is a working engine down a hatch, why worry about painting the bottom of the sump. Hopefully you'll never see it again. Anyway good progress. Cheers from Bali.

@delukxy Жыл бұрын
Certainly wouldn't recommend that paint to anyone although it might spray OK. No density and no gloss. The paint shop didn't treat you well IMO. As I said, tractor paint would have been much better. The finish is more like plastic. If you fancy a coat of clear gloss on it, Halfords do a clear engine paint.
@PinkLittleElephant Жыл бұрын
I’ll be honest … I can’t quite see the point of making the engine look pretty…. but hopefully that will encourage you to maintain it a bit more diligently than the poor Lister on Sloe Patrol :-)
@TheNarrowboatThatJamesBuilt Жыл бұрын
I’ll defo look after the vetus better. The point is to make it the best it can be given the situation. If I do that throughout then I’ll be in a good situation. Besides, once the engine is back in, she ain’t coming out again
