Hi, I just installed three of these fans today and will say that your video was a lifesaver. I watched it twice and then did not need to look at the manual. One thing I would mention is that if you ever decide to edit or revise the video, or make other videos for similar fans, that you address what to do in a four wire situation from the ceiling. All of the rooms that I installed these fans had a ground, black, white and red wire. The red ceiling wire to blue fan/light wire allowed the light to be worked off of the wall switch, the fan must still be chain operated.
@mrreneboy2 жыл бұрын
So I just wired up a fan like that and I’m have the same issue. I wired the blue and black to the black ceiling wire and now it only works off one switch. I have a red wire as well but it’s not connected to anything. What do I need to do so the fam and light can operate on two separate switches? Thanks
@jayadinash9102 Жыл бұрын
@@mrreneboy I suspect that the black wire in the appliance goes to the light and the blue wire goes to the fan (or it could be the other way around). And probably whoever wired the room had a 3-wire cable (white, black, red and ground) going to a wall location where they installed 2 switches.

Can I control the light and fan from a wall switch? If so, can the speed and light control be set on a dimmer switch?
@ceilingfans1012 жыл бұрын
Yes and no. The fan has separate wires so that the speed and light can be controlled by separate switches. The light can be connected to a dimmer switch, but if using a switch to control fan speed, it must be a variable speed switch, not a dimmer. In general, connecting a fan motor to a dimmer switch will eventually damage the motor.

Sometimes you may need to push up kind of hard to get the canopy ring to twist on, especially if your ceiling is not perfectly level. If clockwise doesn't work, try the opposite direction.

The most importatn thing when using a wall control switch is that the fan speed must be set to high speed using the pull chain, and the fan's light set to on using the pull chain (1 pull). If the pull chains are not set, the wall switch will not be able to power the fan.

Which switches do I need to control the light and fan speed from the wall?
@ceilingfans1012 жыл бұрын
The fan is compatible with any variable speed ceiling fan wall control. The important thing is that the fan speed control is a variable speed control (not a dimmer style switch). The light switch must be rated for LED lighting. We would suggest the Lutron Maestro switches.

@ceilingfans1014 жыл бұрын
A loud hum can be caused by vibrating against the ceiling. Make sure that the mounting bracket is completely tightened. You may need a rubber isolator pad between the ceiling and mounting bracket. If the hum continues, call the customer service number on the manual and one of the team members will help troubleshoot. They will also be able to send the rubber pad if needed.

The screws in the outlet box don’t match up with the holes in the mounting plate any ideas what I’m doing wrong?
@ceilingfans1013 жыл бұрын
The mounting plate has slots that will align with the screws of a variety of sizes ceiling fan rated outlet boxes. Loosen the screws in the outlet box and then align the holes in the mounting plate with those screws and then slide it into position and tighten as shown at the 3:23 mark. If your outlet box is not ceiling fan rated, the screws may not line up and the outlet box would need to be replaced with a ceiling fan rated box. It may also be the case that the screw placement in the outlet box may need to be adjusted and moved to different points if able.

Hooked everything up, but I have a extra red wire that I don't know what to do with it. We capped it off, but fan or lights doesn't work
@ceilingfans1012 жыл бұрын
We have to say that we are not licensed electricians and if your wiring is different than the video/manual, you should call a licensed electrician to make sure it is wired correctly. That being said, a red wire is typically a switch wire and for this fan we would just recommend capping that wire using an electrical nut and electrical tape. We'd suggest making sure that the wiring from the fan to the house is still connected correctly and did not disconnect during the installation (that happens sometimes). If that doesn't resolve the issue, we'd suggest calling the Home Decorators Collection customer service at 1-800-986-3460. Their team is pretty good at troubleshooting and can help you out.

@ceilingfans1015 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching. Let me start by saying that I am not a licensed electrician, and you should always consult with one if you have power issues. That being said, if you have a wall switch, your house wiring is probably black, white, red, and bare copper. You have a couple of options for wiring. 1. Cap the red house wire and connect the fan’s black and blue wires to the house black wire, and then white fan wire to white house wire and fan green wires to house bare copper. That would give constant power to the fan and light. 2. Connect the fan black to house black and fan blue to house red (switch wire). This would allow you to use the wall switch to turn the light on/off with the switch. Or, 3. Cap the house black and connect the fan’s black and blue wire to the red switch wire. This would allow you to use the wall switch to turn the fan and light on/off. Before using the switch, you will need to use the fan’s light pull chain to turn the light to the ”on” setting. If the fan’s is wired to the switch, the switch will not turn the light on until the light pull chain is pulled once to set it to on. If that doesn’t help, I would suggest calling Home Decorators Collection customer service at 1-800-986-3460.

@captsatch4 жыл бұрын
@@smbmx6581 Check and see if the other switch goes to one of the wall plugs for a lamp on/off. Make sure you test all plugs both upper and lower. Sometimes it will be only one plug in a two plug outlet. I had to do that in my newly constructed home when I wasn't sure about the switches.

I bought this fan after installing a littleton that I got at home depot. The littleton made a noise at low and medium speeds, but this fan is super quiet. I was also surprised to see that it uses less power compared to the littleton. The thing I didn’t like about installation was the hook that you use to hang the fan motor.
