@@ceilingfans101 Thanks for the follow up. The short answer is that I managed to get the fan installed thanks to your video. I did not even look at the manual. The only thing the threw me off is that I have 2 hot cables (Red and Black) from the ceiling and the fan only has 1 red cable. The solution was to use one of the 2 from the ceiling + the white cable + ground and it worked perfectly. Thank you !!! 😀

Great DIY video! Straightforward! Quick question: I have 2 switches. I want to use one for the fan and the other one for the light. I also want to use the wireless module to control the fan speed . Is it possible to do that? Since the module has only one hot wire.
@ceilingfans101
@ceilingfans101 19 күн бұрын
Technically, it COULD be done, but we do not recommend it. To install with two switches, you would need to alter the wiring to separate the fan's light power wire (blue) from the receiver plug from the fan. That would allow you to wire the receiver to a switch and the light to the other switch. This would let you use the switch for light control and the remote for the fan speed control. We DO NOT recommend doing so because of the color temperature changing light kit. Wiring the light directly to a switch would omit light control from the remote and you would not have the ability to consistently control the light's color temperature. That can only be done using the remote control.

I capped off the red and used the black wire from the ceiling, and attached it to the red wire from the module...but, when I use my remote, I can here a clicking sound in module but the fan itself won't cycle. I'm stumped at this point! Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Thank for watching. Please make sure that the plug from the receiver is completely connected to the plug from the receiver and that all other wires connections are securely/completely connected. Sometimes, wire connections can loosen or disconnect during the installation. If that does not resolve the issue, we would suggest calling Home Decorators Collection customer service at 1-800-986-3460. Their team is pretty good at troubleshooting over the phone.

@ceilingfans101
@ceilingfans101 Жыл бұрын
The light is controlled by 2 different buttons. The light on/off/and brightness is controlled by the light button on the left side. The color temperature is controlled by the CCT button to the right of the light button. To dim or increase the brightness of the light, press and hold the light button. While holding that button, the light will cycle through its brightness settings. Relase the button once the desired brightness level is reached. To change the color temperature of the light, press and release the CCT button. The light has 3 options: 2700K, 3000K, and 5000K. If the light does not respond to the CCT button, we would suggest calling Home Decorators Collection customer service at 1-800-592-5233.

@ceilingfans101
@ceilingfans101 Күн бұрын
For optimal performance, the fan should be installed so that the blades are about 8 ft from the floor. The default reverse switch position is switch left. That should create a downward airflow. Switch right would create an upward airflow for use during the winter months. Either way, ceiling fans, in general, do not create cool wind. Ceiling fans create a cooling effect when the breeze contacts perspiration on the skin. They circulate the air in the room, so if the air is hot, the fan will just circulate hot air.

Thanks for the great video! Our previous fan was a two switch set up. One for the light and one for the fan. With this fan, the remote works for both the light and fan. Now only one switch controls the light and fan together. I have black, white, copper and red coming out of the ceiling. The fan only has the red and white. Any recommendations to get both switches working?
@ceilingfans101
@ceilingfans101 4 жыл бұрын
We would suggest just connecting the receiver to the house black as shown in the video and not connecting it to any switches. With this fan, the receiver remembers the last setting for the fan and light. If you connect it to a switch, every time you turn the switch on/off, the light will change to the next color temperature and you will need to select the color temperature again. Connecting the receiver directly to the house power (black) avoids this issue. At most, you could connect the receiver to one standard on/off toggle switch, but again, the light control would be affected. We would not recommend setting this fan up with 2 switches.

Great video. Finished one fan and Adding a second fan but, for this one, the ceiling has extra wires. Ceiling: Ground, white, black and red. Fan: ground, white, and red. How do I wire this?
@ceilingfans101
@ceilingfans101 2 жыл бұрын
We would suggest just capping the red wire from the ceiling and connecting the receiver red wire to the house black wire. We are not licensed electricians and can not advise on specialty wiring and would suggest contacting a licensed electrician if you are not sure about the wiring. That being said, typically, a red wire is a switch wire. If that is the case, if the switch is a standard on/off switch, you can connect the receiver red wire to the house red wire and cap off the house black wire. That would allow you to turn the fan and light on/off using the switch. Please note that if connected to a switch, the light's color temperature may change if the switch is turned off then on rapidly (within 4 seconds).

@ceilingfans101 Жыл бұрын
Each remote and receiver pair needs to be set to a unique dip switch setting to ensure that each remote only controls the intended fan. This is covered at the 4:06 mark. Since the fans are already installed, you will have to remove the canopy ring by twisting coutnerclockwise, and then unscrew 2 of the standard screws and loosen but not remove the 2 screws in the J slots. Then, you will be able to twist the motor housing to remove it from the mounting bracket which will give you access to the receiver. To dim the lights, press and hold the light button on the remote. While holding the button, the light will cycle from bright to dim to bright again. Release the button once the desired brightness level is reached.

Watch the video at the 4:06 mark (preparing the remote and receiver). That section shows how to change the frequency if you have 2 of the same fan. You just need to set the dip switch settings for each remote. That will ensure that each emote only controls the intended fan.and receiver pair to a unique setting. That will ensure that each remote only controls the intended fan.

@ceilingfans101 Ай бұрын
Thanks. The safety cable is a Canadian requirement and is covered in the Canada version of the manual. We do not cover the safety cable because this is the US version and the safety cable is not included. The addition of the safety cable should not require a second person. The steps for the safety cable are to screw a wood screw into the joist and loop the safety cable onto it. That can be done while the fan is hanging on the hook of the mounting bracket.

@ceilingfans101
@ceilingfans101 2 жыл бұрын
We really can't answer without knowing what the yellow wire is. We would suggest calling a licensed electrician to make sure the wiring is connected correct. The wiring from the house should have a hot wire (typically black) and a neutral wire (typically white). The yellow may be a neutral wire, but it could also be a switch wire. Sorry we can't be more help.

@ceilingfans101

Technically, the fan's receiver can be wired to a standard on/off toggle style switch which would allow you to turn the fan and light on/off at the same time. We don't recommend using a switch because if the switch is turned off/on too quickly, it could cause the color temperature of the light kit to change. For optimal operation, the fan should only be controlled with the remote.

I’m installing this fan while watching this awesome video. But my question is on my previous fan i had a separate switch between the fan and the light. Not exactly sure how to proceed from there. Should i connect to just one black and one white? And just kill one of the switches?
@ceilingfans101
@ceilingfans101 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching. We would recommend wiring the receiver directly to the house constant power wire (black) and just capping off the switch wire. The fan is not recommended for use with any switches due to the color changing LED. The LED has a memory to remember the color temperature setting and if connected to a switch, the light color temperature may change each time the switch is turned off/on.

When I turn on the switch, it seems to be going thru every single light before the one I like. Is there any way it can be set on 1 color without using the remote every time?
@ceilingfans101
@ceilingfans101 3 жыл бұрын
For this fan, we recommend connecting directly to the house wiring and not using a switch. The remote receiver has the memory function and using a switch will cause the light color temperature to change each time the switch is turned off/on.

We would suggest making sure the wiring is connected correctly and that the wiring did not disconnect/get loose during the installation. That will sometimes happen after making the wire connections. If that doesn't resolve the issue, we would suggest calling the Home Decorators customer service team at 1-800-986-3460.

When I flick the switch, the light and fan turn on, but the remote doesn't work. The battery is installed, and the 3 lights above the fan on the remote light up, but pressing the on/off button, fan button, and light button do nothing. Any idea why? The fan is kinda useless if the remote doesn't work (we'd like to use the fan with the light off).

@@bradgauci8573 We would suggest changing the dip switches in the remote and receiver to change the frequency of the fan. There may be an interfering signal in the area causing the remote signal to not communicate clearly with the receiver.

The receiver can only be wired to one standard on/off toggle switch. If using a switch wire, you would connect the receiver power wire to the switch wire and cap off the other house power wire and switch wire. If you are noot sure about the wiring, we would suggest calling a licensed electrician to ensure proper connections.

I have an extra wire coming from the ceiling. I have black, white, copper and also Red. What do I do with this?
@ceilingfans101
@ceilingfans101 2 жыл бұрын
Typically a red wire is a switch wire. We are not licensed electricians and if you have wiring questions, you should contact a licensed electrician. That being said, if the red wire is a switch wire, you have two options: Cap off the red wire and wire as instructed in the video, or cap off the house black wire and connect the receiver power wire to the red house wire. That would allow you to turn the fan and light on/off simultaneously using the switch. Please note that if connected to a switch, the color temperature of the light might change if the switch is turned off/on rapidly (within 4 seconds).

Most clicking can be attributed to loose parts or wire nuts tapping inside the motor housing. Make sure the wires are tucked into the mounting bracket and outlet box to ensure they do not tap against the inside of the motor housing. Also, make sure the blades and the light kit are completely tightened. If those tips don't help, we would suggest calling Home Decorators Collection customer service at 1-800-986-3460. Sorry in advance for the novel i'm about to write. I would just double check that all of wiring is connected correctly. If wired to a wall switch, make sure that there is only one power wire connected to the fan. I'm not a licensed electrician (and you should consult with one if in doubt), but typically, a red wire is a switch wire and the house black is the constant supply wire. For trouble shooting purposes, i would wire the fan as instructed in the video and see if the fan works properly without the switch. If it works properly without the switch, the issue is the switch. If the wall control is a fan speed and light control, the issue would be with the switch. If wiring to a switch, the only acceptable switch would be a standard on/off style toggle switch. Hope that helps.

No, the only way to change the dip switches is to change them in the battery compartment of the remote and on the receiver which is housed in the motor housing. You will have to remove the fan from the mounting bracket to access the receiver.
