Whoever played this during launch is in their 40's or close to it now. I was 23 years old back when this was released. This was when I seemed to have infinite attention span and stamina to go on to play this game. I vividly remember I had a choice between 2 games. FF11 online or Backyard Wrestling on PS2. I chose the latter and that was my next 10 years of my life lol.

I still drop into Valefor to this day, I'm just a little older than you, I do play alone, because I can't stay at the controls more than 20 minutes at a time, and I'm prone to taking months and even years off from playing. This game was good times back in the day, I made more friends in it than I ever would have without it, some of whom I still talk to today. Game on brother.

Hey man! As another 44 year old that loves ffxi and plays off and on since day one, I am so glad to see you on and enjoying it. It is hands down one of my all time favorite games. Great music, great system. everything about it is truly a masterpiece. I wish they would do what wow did and remaster it and re release it vanilla style from the beginning. I would be all over it. It is hands down the best mmo ever made and still to this day it is underrated. Anyways, thanks for the video, gonna keep watching to relive the glory days. BTW which server are you on?

Asura. They were working on some kind of remaster type thing for awhile, sounds like it fell through, but SE kept the assets, not sure on details. There was something magical about logging into the starter towns for the first time and eventually making your way to the first group exp areas, chatting with people, forming linkshells, coordinating skill chains and magic bursts, hunting for coffer keys, running around sky/sea. Sneak and invisible, notorious monsters. Lots of memories, lots of fun. A very unique game.

@radmageirl yeah, i keep telling people about it. I loved how everything in it was so engaging. Most mmos nowadays you just sleep walk to end game. In ffxi just getting to new zones was such an adventure. Then forming new parties and meeting new players. Breaking party structure metas for areas when you had a good crew. Truly one of a kind. I started back up again on the eden server. I still have a live character on asura.

That is a fake imitation filled with people that have nostalgia goggles bolted onto their faces. 20 hours doing the most boring trite "content" you can imagine. Sitting around in an exp party for hours for 120 exp a kill LOL, then the healer goes and you sit an hour waiting to replace them. Or the riveting end game content where you DOT kite things to death or pick at them with tiny dmg numbers for an hour. I've done all that garbage back in the day, it was basic/boring then just like it is now. I feel bad that you spend 20 hours of your life playing such a boring copy of the real game that will just go poof one day.
