Cool stuff you guys have. Let me say I'm a Greaser from Detroit and at 74 y/o i still feel like one more loud machine. I was in Chrysler engineering from 69 on. Your doin real stuff, thanks. Must mention my first project in the engine lab in 69 was to further develop the 440 6pack for 70.

Congrats on your 7.114 ET run on your first time at the track with an un new build, very good !!! I love gassers, as a teenager I built a 55 Chevy 210 gasser with a 283ci SBC with a 4-speed trans, 4:88 rear gear and campaigned the car locally for two years before having to sell it. I sure miss those days ! looking forward to more videos of the stude making more passes !!!!!!!!!!!!!

I 'd bought this old street beater for $300.00 way back when. a 62 Plymouth Sport Fury, 440 powered w/ an old cable shift 727 and a 3.91 gear. Pulled the 440 out, had a competition valve job done, totally amateur bowl blending job by ME. Direct Connection 484 Hemi Grind cam & lifters, a weiand open plenum manifold, an 850 Holley, 6 point roll bar, welded subframe connectors. And what a JOY it was to fired it up for the first time! And to finally get it to the old Detroit Dragway, the first full pass was great! I applaud your efforts guys!

You need to get a different carb linkage kit and turn them sideways for drag racing. Mounted the way you have them the front will go lean while the secondaries go rich because of fuel slosh in the bowls. It's why you always see carbs sideways on drag cars. $122 on summit www.summitracing.com/parts/aed-7250 or speedmaster has a kit for $100

I've been waiting for this episode for so long! Congratulations on getting it to the track. Now waiting for you to paint it (so sick of flat black cars). And for you guys to put a decent motor into the nova! I was wondering if you were hooking on the launch or not. Hard to tell from the video. Your wheel speed in the burnout box seemed a bit slow. If you need more heat I usually shift into 2nd then roll out a few feet before I let out. Your show is definitely one of my favorites.

Thanks, yeah the burnouts are kinda weak. The first couple were 2nd only and then i started putting it in 3rd. Tire pressure kinda high at 13psi cause i dont have screws in the rims yet and it does spin a bit through 1st at launch. Still got alot to figure out but getting there.

You guys are doing something that is just about the purest form of fun available I myself love it and sorely miss it I got one I got to get done myself I had years back a 71 comet ended up selling it to my neighbor cuz I was dumb life got off track got myself in trouble with the law got that squared away now just about got the garage ready to rock I'm ready to get out there and tear up the asphalt my father and I have a past history of drag racing I won King of The Hill in my state a couple times years ago honestly seems like my life got off track not long after I quit drag racing not that I quit dad's barracuda had a blown up clutch my 1960 Ford pickup that I was drag racing got wrecked and my comet wasn't all the way complete yet.... Guess the moral of this story is idle hands are the devil's play thing that's what my grandfather used to say I love you channel guys I love you philosophy keep on doing what you're doing & hello from Phoenix Arizona

that's an awesome car, I know this is a race car but when powering headlights in an automobile it is always a good idea to run them on their own circuit and protect that circuit with a self resetting breaker to allow the lights to cycle on and off in the event of a short.

Love it! I've always had a soft spot for these cars! Also, just an observation here, but you should never jack up the rear of a vehicle by placing the jack under the 3rd member. This puts the entire weight of the rear of the car on the axle housings which can spring the housings out of alignment. Not good.

1st one Ive watched, so I don't know what you did for a distributor, so I don't know if the shaft was fixed or still floating. Even with the counterweights gone, you still need too have the springs on it, or fix the counterweight shaft to the main shaft. If not, your timing is bouncing from no advance to full mechanical advance and all points in between with the firing of each cylinder, which appears to be exactly the way it was acting. Still fun, though!
