Amazing compilation of mud races! The one mud race I wish you’d included was Hangtown 2002. Stewart was jumping the big uphill step up on a 125 while a river of mud was running down it, meanwhile only about four of the 250 class riders were jumping it! Another insane Stew performance.

I was at Daytona ‘08 and watched the Reed fiasco from 20 feet away! I was working as Factory Support for 4 different teams (Graphics and Seat covers). We were standing on Pit Road, alongside Mitch Payton, in a spot I was not supposed to be, but I was thankful to be a rule breaker that night!! I wish I would have introduced myself to Mitch that day but he was wearing the old school headset radio and I didn’t want to compromise the race preparations. Awesomeness day!

My son had been racing for 3-4 months when we went to Hangtown. 1994. It was a Mud Fest like minute 2:40. See the uphills? Only my son and another kid could get up and down them. Almost no adults could do the uphill/downhill. My kid just cruised around like it was nothing. He was 9. I knew I had a good racer because in his first race he wheelied out, started last and past 14 kids to finish 2nd. I was hooked.

I love how tracks looks so easy from the sidelines or the tv screen. absolutely no justice whatsoever on the actual track conditions and the physical toll it will take on you as a racer. holy cow man. thay make it look so easy dude.

Grew up Racing Budds Creek. Soooo many mudders. The track has a pond in the middle and a creek that borders half the track so it literally makes for pure hell. Add in all the elevation changes and off cambers and its a disaster waiting to happen. I remembering winning a couple there where they didn't even run the 2nd moto. Was fine by me lol

Especially those supercross mudders are a tragedy, they have a million standards for racing, but they can't device a proper drainage system and some last minute fixes, like having a few dump truck loads of sand to throw on top.

The worst mudders are when it stops raining, if you have the right dirt, it turns from gooey swampyness into concrete. I once saw an MX Sidecar with a 700cc twostroke single, that didn't spin the rear wheel anymore, because it was just baked in dried dirt. They had to pull it out the track with a caterpillar, after they had made me and my brother (we were marshalls) try to push it out, needless to say, we didn't move it an inch.
