Similarly had the same experience as yourself Phil, same engines over York- Liverpool area, changed engines several times at Edgeley early sixties.Staying on during the closures was not a desirable option sadly.

Someone sounded upset when another spotter arrived... forgetting it's a public place . 😂

The person was down the bottom, he’d realised he’d be bowled so ran infront of the other enthusiasts.. I’d be annoyed myself.

Liam, A disappointing start for you at SJ but the day became a whole lot better thereafter. Great coverage and nicely captured. Old Hill looked unusually quiet. Regards, John

Great videos mate. Was good to see you at Stourbridge Junction after my 6 hour journey back from Taunton/Wellington and then definitely worth coming back out to Old Hill and having a catch up for the return to hear and see such an amazing sight ❤

Smashing compilation, Bahamas really played her part. Btw, pardon my ignorance, what was the reason for the yellow diagonal stripe on the cab side? Many thanks for posting.
@Matty_1843Ай бұрын
I believe it was to denote locos banned from working under the wires south of Crewe.
@allangibson4354Ай бұрын
@@Matty_1843 Thanks, I never knew that.
@PaulMarshall-kp8dzАй бұрын
@allangibson4354 The ones that had the stripe were locomotives with insufficient clearance due to the wires being lower than normal under some of the bridges. Some smaller locos still could as the gap was greater than the potential to arc.
@DerekWalsh-l4iАй бұрын
Several classes had the yellow stripes added from about the beginning of 1964. Duchesses, Jubilees, and Midland 4Fs are three that come to mind.

What’s the point in being cocooned in an air conditioned vehicle on these trips, hermetically sealed off from the whole thing
