Hello from Aus. You can grind circular relief behind the primary by advancing the cutter in the collet a few degrees. Then rotate the cutter till the stop indexes in. This stops the grinding before you get to the primary facet. A bit rough but OK way to do it.

Recently picked one of these up. Please don't ever scrap this. I would barter for the accessories at the very least. Missing a few on mine. You seem to have a good handle on the operation though. Good job. You in the US?

Primary angle should b 10 degrees and secondary angle 20 degrees for better cutting

Thanks for the info, Not sure when I will get back to trying to use this machine. My Live Steam project is my current focus.

Using an air hose on a grinding machine is one of the worst things you could do. You will drive that grit under the ways of the machine and it will mix with the way oil and make like lapping compound and wear your ways out.
@donaldyungling31532 жыл бұрын
Absolutely true, although I try to be careful I am sure some of the grit will end up where it doesn't belong. My guess is once I am gone this machine will most likely end up in a scrap yard. It was really designed for large cutters used on Horizontal milling machines, all of the examples in the sparse manual are of these large diameter cutters, and has proven to be difficult to use for small projects. I have spent hours trying to find the orientation of head, tool holder and wheel where it all aligns properly. And then get mediocre results. As with all of my other machines, they are used for my Live Steam hobby projects. Hours spent on this machine take away from the projects I want to be working on. In reality the only use this machine gets is when I grind a lathe tool bit using a magnetic chuck and a sine vise.

@@donaldyungling3153 If you should ever want any advice on grinding cutters or tooling I would be happy in any way I can. I have 55 years experience in the trade. I currently work at home subcontracting work from another grinding shop . Most of my experience is on the Cincinnati no.2, KO Lee grinder and Cincinnati Monoset . I wouldn't change you anything . I also have a great deal of experience on the Hybco 2100sb form relief grinding fixture. Small cutters can be tuff on any machine.

@@erneststorch9844 Thank you for your generous offer. My current focus is finishing the Fitchburg Northern project, some posts here facebook.com/groups/FitchburgNorthern. I am also waiting for an opening for the first of my 2 needed knee replacement procedures. My guess is that it will be next summer before I would consider spending time with the T&C machine. Meanwhile if you want to send an email my address is first initial, last name, at att.net.

So many things wrong here from start to finish

That's good to know. What would also be good is knowing what the mistakes are and how to correct them. Even better would be videos by professional T and C grinder users so all of us can learn the correct ways to use these machines. Thanks for the comment.

Yes, we all want to know what you think is wrong. I am more fam with the cinci #2 and the brown sharpe #13. This machine is unfamiliar.
