Күн бұрын

After the wedding in Belgium, Philippe returns home with a fully loaded van (more on that later). I'm staying a few more days to spend extra time with friends and family. With the path to the old tractor cleared and the trees freed from brambles, we're waiting for the ground to dry before moving it with the excavator. Now, Philippe returns to a task from three videos ago: removing the render from the old farmhouse. As each layer comes off, we uncover remnants of past additions and changes. A few days later, Philippe eagerly cleans it up to welcome us home. Odin's grandmother joins us and stays the week.
Every time we go to Belgium, we try to make the trip worthwhile-it's quite a drive. This time, we filled the van with second-hand finds and items from a friend renovating his house, like a fridge and an old wood stove for the barn once it's renovated. After unloading and cleaning the van, we decide to visit the Château de Jumilhac! Come and join us on this beautiful journey through time.

From the very first video, I watched, I could tell you guys are very hard workers and nothing has changed my mind since then. What a project getting all the render off the front of the house. Amazing. I’m sitting here in my easy chair, watching your video, procrastinating just cleaning the gutters at my house, lol. That was certainly an amazing château that you took us to. Such beautiful roof lines, and interiors. The garden is gorgeous too. And for it to be back in one of the original family’s hands. Now that’s what I call generational wealth!

Phillippe , would you not have a couple of small bags of lime cement on hand to fill some of those larger holes, above the ground floor window? You might get a little more than wind, sun and rain in there. Also close the shutter, karma has a way of making stones bounce into glass with the greatest of ease. Is there a way you can hire a small crusher to run all the render, unusable stone and rubble, it would be good drainage or driveway material for future use.
@DomaineSauvage
@DomaineSauvage 3 ай бұрын
I was thinking the same while i was doing it but i was still not closing them, sometimes the mind is a strange thing 😂I think in the upcoming video i close them more but i am not sure 😂 I'll have a look where the holes are too big, some stones are also loose so might not be bad idea.

What a beautiful chateau! 24:28 = magical. Imagine repointing all that stonework lol. Re your own farmhouse, why do you think they resurfaced the front? Simply to give it a modern look? I see one side at least is still the original stonework. And I see also the date, 1802, (or is it 1892?) 11:50 onwards. Interesting. Thanks so much 🙂
@DomaineSauvage

We think it says 1802 but we think it is older by going off old charts but to know more we could ask the Marie i think. The render was to help against moisture i think.. but it only aggravates the problem.

Phillipe you are doing a great job. We can see that you love your family and that all of this hard work is for them. Your farm is going to be beautiful in the end. Those buildings are starting to look beautiful. From Central Victoria, Australia
