So incredibly clearly explained! Thank you for taking the time to cut cross-sections to show hand positioning and relationship at each step. I'm a beginner student and it's really helpful to see each step dissected and repeated. I've been watching your videos for about a month now and I've incorporated a lot of your lessons into my practice pieces. Thank you so much, you are a very patient teacher!

@potterylady1 Not at all, when I started my pottery class everyone was throwing this way in Taiwan. It was when I came to U.S. to see other people throwing using knuckle or sponge. Don't you think when I hold the Plexiglas upside-down my fingers/hands form naturally both inside and outside. Don't you think the outside fingers are more stable when throwing this way?

The most excellent throwing instruction video I've ever seen! Very helpful, thank you! Is that about 3 pounds of clay? I notice in most You Tube videos potters seldom tell us how much clay they are using, unless the size of the clay mound is the focus of the demonstration. I wish that all demo's would begin by telling us the amount of clay as well as the clay body being thrown. In this video, it appears you've accomplished a very impressive size vase in relation to the amount of clay you began with! You are a master of porcelain clay, and the form is perfect, too. Bravo!

At my school in France, we use knuckle for the very first raise or bigger pots, then thumb as you show in the video, then tip of fingers for refining top of bowls and bottle necks. Personnally I am not comfortable with knuckle since it tends to grip and make holes at the bottom of the pot ...
