Sooo niceeeee. It sounds so good and must say as a true U87ai lover it is probably the most similar sounding clone I've ever heard (Warm clones are a joke and the Stam lacks the whole concept of a U87)

Hey there Deluxe Memory Man! Really impressive build without a physical reference. The king!

When building this mic, what are the values of C4 and C5 capacitors you use to make it a "dead ringer" for the original U87ai? Did you use 47nf for C4 or 0.1uf to get a better low end response? And did you use 160pf for C5 or 220pf for the high end de-emphasis circuit to tune the arienne audio k87 capsule?

I went exactly with the values Fuchs has in the BOM.

Hey Mark! Thank you so much! I'll definately put this on my list, although I might start with something a bit more beginner friendly. It's absolutely insane to think that it's possible to essentially get a sonically identical U87 clone for a fracture of the price of the real deal.

You’re welcome! You may want to look at the Mic Parts kits as many of them are quite beginner friendly.

Hey, i got my first Fuchs PCB! i will build mine next month. How you changed the design of the HL-95 Body? Is that foil? Want to change mine to black with that.
@MarkYoshimotoNemcoff4 сағат бұрын
Congrats on your Fuchs! Enjoy the build and take your time. What you see on that body is a 3d printed sleeve made up of shiny green PLA. It's just a simple cone that sliips over the body tube. Thank you for reminding me that I have to re-create it at some point.

I also transplant my Fuchs 87a to this body. Quite good bang for bucks body. And I love aesthetics of that body in your video. Really cool.
@MarkYoshimotoNemcoff6 ай бұрын
Awesome! Yeah, I think it's the best DIY 87 body out there to get the right look and sound. This body in the video just has a 3d printed sleeve on it because that's easier than painting.

Yesterday I test my sa87i it’s a dead ringer for u87 clone. I understood why a u87 is what it is the sound is phenomenal the way it handle the sound nothing like it no distortion unlike the rest of my mic I tested a few mics way better than my oc16. U87 clone or not it handled the volume like no other mics.

That is the beauty of an 87. It sounds good on most sources and the things it sounds great on sound like magic.
@badmiddens6 ай бұрын
did you also do that sweet paint job? first aftermarket painting I've ever seen of a mic that looks amazing.
@MarkYoshimotoNemcoff6 ай бұрын
Thank you. It’s actually just a thin sleeve I 3d printed so I can tell my mics apart at a quick glance.

Oh, please tell me, is this Neumann body from Aliexpress delivered along with the capsule mount? Or do I need to buy the capsule mount separately?
@MarkYoshimotoNemcoff4 ай бұрын
I'm 90 percent certain it does not come with a mount or saddle.

It would be interesting to place a speaker in the booth playing pink noise or a sweep and compare the frequency response with the original.

uh oh this has nothing to do with the video since i dont have time to build my own u87 but do you think the mt48 is worth it with the u87 or rather get a different interface with a hardware pre.
@MarkYoshimotoNemcoff6 ай бұрын
For the work I do, I’m all in on the MT-48. Neumann essentially designed it to pair with their mics so it’s a perfect fit.

I find it hard to hear any difference on your voice. It sounds fine on all mics. It's a compliment, but really, It's not easy to make up your mind.
@MarkYoshimotoNemcoff6 ай бұрын
It’s true. Thank you. I do sound very similar on nearly all mics.
