Those square drive screws are called Robertson's . They are great and the screw drivers for them come in colour codes and by number. They really hold up to lots of torque.. You are in Canada so getting a screw driver for them will be easy. That looks like a wonderful job. You are living my dream fixing up old wooden boats. I have done some and loved every minute of them .Sadly they ended up in a museum so I never got to ride on the water in even one. I did have a cedar strip run about with a 40 horse on on and that was a blast to drive around a smaller lake in .Keep up the vids and the great work

Yes, we Vermont Yankees are quite familiar with the Robertson term for square drivers. In fact, the original slot-head fasteners Chis-Craft drove into her at Algonac were all switched out to square drives at some point. While they may withstand immense amounts of driver torque, seeing all those Robertson heads, where they should be oval-head slots, is like fingernails dragged across a chalk board to me.Robertson-head fasteners are readily available from Robertson Inc. (www.robertsonscrew.com/ )I do not see any silicon bronze fasteners on that Web site, however. All that stainless is a recipe for disaster in marine applications at or below the waterline.

I know you will make her look great again. Don't you just love seeing and repairing work done wrong many years ago? Keep up the great work.

Thank you and yes! What is so special about this project, besides the fact that she has been owned by one family, virtually since day 1, is that the family brings both the requisite resources, but even more, an appreciation for preserving such wonderful artifacts of history for future generations to the table.Next comes the flip.....
