Is spending £65-£70 on a tent direct from China a bargain, or a recipe for disaster? We attempt to find out. Get the 3F UL Solo tent here...amzn.to/2UNVuYI or the Naturehike Tagar 1 here: amzn.to/3e1HBh7

Great video Andrew. We cycle camped on Arran years ago, but were nearly blown away at Glen Rosa in a storm! Beautiful Island though and we had a great time. I have just bought the Taga 2 (March 2018) and it now includes a storm flap with velcro fasteners on the main door zip. I've erected it in the garden and am really impressed with the quality. It also included a good quality ground sheet in the price £84.00..it took just under a month to arrive in the UK from China (the nature hike factory store).

Hi Tim, Yep Arran has it all I think. Good luck with the Taga 2. I think they are great value for money and I like the simplicity and space. Jim says so far condensation hasn't been a major issue and for 3 seasons it his go to option due to the lightweightness and packability..should serve you well !

I'd say down to the weight limit you set yourself and whether you use walking poles. If your'e a walker using poles and want to have a shelter under a kilo go 3F, If bikepacking or not using poles the Tagar is probably best. A

Thanks for both of your reviews of the 3F UL tent. My go to tents are a Tarptent Stratospire 2 for backpacking with one buddy, and a Tarptent Hogback for taking my three kids. I was looking for a cheap and light one person tent, but most cheap tents are crap. Based on your videos it looks like the 3F UL will do the trick. The cheapest I found on was $83 American. If it serves it's purpose, that is a great deal! As a second note, that looked like a really cool place to camp. I live in California, and honestly we are really spoiled here for natural beauty, but I'd love to explore the wilds of the British Isles someday.

Don't buy Chinese stuff on eBay or any other website that buys it off Aliexpress anyways, but directly from Aliexpress. If you think that eBay is safer, you're wrong, Aliexpress is as big as eBay, their customer protection is excellent and one time I haven't received my order (I've ordered more than a hundred times), they refunded me within 3 days.

Thank you Andrew for your videos very nice and serious. They are even too good because I had to stop buying a Copper Spur ul 1 that you spoke favorably (laughs). I have a NH Silent Wing 1 , grey 20D fabrics, dble roofs, 1400gr in remplacing the floor mat. If I am even lighter with one of the two tents you show here, I will let myself be tempted. The wind greatly reduces the condensation. I do not understand perfectly english and I appreciate when you write a few sentences on the video. Thank you again for your reviews and alsol the fact that you are talking : you wanted to test the 3F ul better, and you even added the NH !

Gordon---Just thought I'd chime in as I have the same bag. I have used it all the way down to 29* F (or just below -1* C). That was, however, with top and bottom base layers, synthetic parka, two pairs of socks, and only a torso length pad beneath me. Without extra baselayers, I honestly don't much care for taking it below 40* F (~4* C). I will add that for a synthetic bag, it is a real wonder in terms of weight and compressibility. The material itself is also the most comfortable I have ever had the pleasure of using. The bag is a real joy to have as part of my kit. You can't go wrong with it.

Andrew, thanks for this video. I am looking at buying a replacement for my OEX Phoxx 1 which, although a great little tent, has no room to sit upright in and is a bit too confined for my old bones. I am considering the Lanshan 2 3F UL, it has a lot of good reviews and seems to have the space that I am looking for. My main use is backpacking. Having used the Lanshan 1 3F UL would you not have preferred the 2 man option or did you find that you have more than enough room in the 1 man version?
@AndrewParkOutdoors
@AndrewParkOutdoors 5 жыл бұрын
Hi Gareth I've not had the lanshan 1 but I did have the SMD lunar Solo which it's based on and it was massive. This wee 3F UL is very small by comparison but still allows you to sit up at one end but it's so light I'm prepared to go with it. ATB A

great video and great camping spot love the nature hike tagra, do you think that the poles are a bit fragile or do you think that it could weather a storm. do you know the item no from ebay for the tegra, atb
@AndrewParkOutdoors
@AndrewParkOutdoors 7 жыл бұрын
Hi Brian, The poles when i examined them looked actually as good as DAC stuff but unbranded and were a good diameter, i suspect about 9mm tho i cant find confirmation online. Ithink with two extra gulines attached to each end of the crossing pole it would stand up surprising well. My only concern which has yet to be tested is that the main fly zip looks to have no storm flap yet doesnt use a waterproof zip like my tent. That may be why they offset the zip from centre so that any drips only hit the vestibule and not the inner ( educated guesswork ) ! gliderrider not so much sleeping space as the lunar but I like the vestibule being down to ground which feels less exposed, this seems stable in wind but reckon direction of pitch is more fussy than the solo where you can pretty much pitch the sleeping area into wind at more angles.
