Nice job explaining how the dry cone works. I struggled trying to explain how that works in mine. White board was a good idea!

Hey man. Loved the video. Full disclosure. I was one of the original sales people that helped design the system Binmanager, but no longer with the company. Now I’m a 1st generation farmer myself. Started in 2017 from scratch. I think in time you will fall in love with the system more and more every year. I still get calls from my old customers, now friends, and answer their questions and they still thank me for helping design their sites and give them ideas. Some suggestions if you do put some systems in your older bins (or even if you don’t) make sure you have vents on your roofs. You have mentioned in past videos, issues with condensation or spoilage or pipes plugging. More than likely it’s due to the moisture not having anywhere to go except into the leg spouts, condensates and falls back onto the peak or run down the roof to the side walls. Peak vents are inexpensive and easy to install. Imagine blowing into a pop bottle with a pin hole at the top, the airflow doesn’t have anywhere to go. Now imagine drilling a couple 1/4” holes in the same bottle. Air flows has somewhere to go and take the moisture with it. Axial flow fans suck. Centrifugal fans are more energy efficient and have greater cfm, and pay for themselves in time with energy savings. The system will make you money year after year on soybeans, save you money on your corn (unless you are natural air drying the it will make you money) but it can be difficult to trust the system 100%. The fans run a goofy times sometimes. Trust it and you will be happy.

Hey Brian. You could probably use some kind of roofing material to make the dog house water tight-ish. They do some applications to concrete roofs that come in rolls of thick asphalt/rubber and heat it up with propane to seal them. You should look into that

Can you explain why it seems the majority of farms in the USA and Canada use circular bins for corn and bean storage as opposed to a clearspan building, reinforced walls often with an internal air tunnel for routine cooling and ventilation. Perhaps semi permanent subdivisions for differing crops or varieties. Load in with a drag conveyor and sometimes a travelling cross conveyor via a drive over pit (under cover) with separate continuous flow dryer. Unload generally via big bucket on a loading shovel into trucks but sometimes drag conveyor to the leg over the pit or overhead hopper bottom bin. I understand the additional your major issue of wet corn storage when you are able to harvest corn with modern combines so fast but is solvable with separate wet storage close to the dryer and can finish up being dry crop storage.

We still farm a 1500 acre farm in Minnesota and have a smaller grain setup than your old bin system. It’s unfortunate we have to sell all of our bins and half of our corn every year especially where we are we need to dry it so we want a new grain system.

A couple of the local farms have underground tanks for the water to drain into from their underground conveyors and leg. I think he said the bottom is 20 feet and the top of the tank is over 8 feet down so it doesn't freeze the pump.

Brain/ bob, depending on how much you want to solve your water problems I’d recommend digging a trench all the way around the bin setup a foot or two below the lowest point in the dog house or leg. Then lay a tile going to a sump or ditch (depending on grade), then backfill with 1x3’s or other large stone to stop water from seeping under the bin facility. Could be done with a tile plow, but you want a wall of stone to help stop the water. Have done this around an entire housing lot that was so wet we couldn’t dig a basement in, came back a week later and ground was dried out, even dried out neighbors basements. Just a thought
