MTI is building a 440 now. They may also be in collab with Merc to build more powerful o/bs, maybe 525-550hp. I think Randy is looking for a 140mph outboard cat. He'll sell a TON of those b/c his customers are always looking for bigger better and faster.

@@dieseldog00 “sustainable” as in you can run at high rpm for longer. Not constant which would be forever. O/bs provide much more sustainable mph so it’s no wonder ppl are looking for a 440 now with a new Merc o/b to propel it.

@@kevinfunk83 "High rpm for longer". To me that means turbines which are my fav big power engine. They are so versatile powerful and long-lasting. The thrill of my life was watching QATAR set the record at LOTO which will likely never be broken. The downside is they cost huge money to repair. Mother Merc said there would be two o/b models coming out; the 600 and the smaller lighter 500. Maybe the 500 will be for the MTI 34 up to the 440. I'm sure we will see what drives the 440 when the boat comes out next year. I think it may come down to boat weight...

A lot of racers don't think so. There are Skater cats dominating almost every multihull bracket for the last 30-40 years and they still dominate. Peter Hledin knows how to build raceboats.

Each to there own, but I don’t see the point of these cats and racing monohulls, ok so they are fast but that’s it, Center consoles though, that’s more like it, I like getting to beach or cove and chilling eating swimming.
