Exaggerating Braggart is also a minion you can evolve your 5 mana minions *into*, which is a pretty FeelsBad moment. Then again, there are plenty of other understatted minions you can evolve into, so maybe that's just normal/fine. Why do the downgraded forms of the Druid and Priest hero powers only cost 1? Isn't that "weakened" form of the Druid hero power just a strictly better version of the normal Demon Hunter hero power? Personally, I'd return those to being 2 mana and maybe change the nerfed Paladin hero power to be spending 3 mana to summon a 1/1, since unlike the 2 mana to summon a 0/1 hero power, it's not a completely dead/useless hero power in decks without buffs in them. Maybe it could bump up the cost of the opponent's hero power by 1 if it's a non-standard hero power (or already downgraded)? That might be a bit too punishing for some decks if you can bounce it a few times, though. Gruul kind of seems like an auto-win against combo decks if you draw it? I don't really see how your opponent can interact with/play around it, they kind of just have to hope you don't draw it and instantly invalidate their deck.

Kinda surprised by some of these ratings. I feel like that FINLEY card is exactly the kind of card Trump would like for its inventiveness, but dislike for the game: disruption on such a level that you can do nothing to counter it. Like this would not be a card you wanted to get hit with and - for some of those classes - easily swing the game to a loss.
@Pepe-pq3om2 жыл бұрын
For real, and it is really situational, because you could be in a match up where the enemie's hero power is super important for their game plan, like quest hunter, or, you could run into someone that don't care for their hero power at all. Whereas the other hero power related Finleys would do something for YOUR hero power, so you are 100% sure if the effect is worth for you to include in your deck or not. Really cool upsidedown multiverse idea tho, would be extra cool and flavorful if he had been introduced in the original Old Gods expansion, as a corrupted Finley, it would perfectly fit the theme of corruption and twisted effects such as Lightlord Ragnaros healing allies.
@Nocron992 жыл бұрын
I feel like finley is basically a tech card ONLY for those cases where the opponents deck relies on its starting hero power (which imo is fairly rare), because in normal matches the trade off of singleton is a greater sacrifice than "you cant use your hero power". Even then you still have to draw and play finley, and the opponent still has a minor power available. It doesn't seem any unhealthier than say Reno countering an entire genre of deck (aggro) and Reno was neutral.
@perote32 жыл бұрын
I mean, it's a weird tech card that's only really good against quest hunter and some weird decks. Aggro decks basically already lost if they're wasting tempo on a basic hero power and control/mid-range decks almost always run hero cards so it's really not that strong for a highlander card.

@blahthebiste79242 жыл бұрын
Gruul is perfectly fine as is, much more fair than a lot of disruption that is actually in the game. It is super clearly telegraphed, your opponent will likely know what is going on by the second Ogre, and they know exactly *when* this disruption is coming and can play around it. Trust me there is nothing more obnoxious than Time Warp mage. Also, you need to play 4 garbage minions, not die, and then play your 10 drop ogre(presumably, trump said that the card would be a bit more balanced at 10) that only majorly disrupts combo decks, slightly disrupts control, and doesn't affect aggro at all. I'm pretty sure it's fine, just that you need to have a lot of aggro so that it couldn't become too prevalent.

I want to propose the argument that Dragonkin Heavyweight seems far weaker than it seems at first glance. My first impression is that it’s just a ‘vanilla 5/5/6 windfury that deals 1 to face when it attacks’, but it might be generally worse than that. Trump already mentioned the lack of rush and that sometimes it might get damage before delivering it’s one-two punch flavor. The additional exacerbated issue is that it remains a 1/6 on your opponent’s turn, so assuming your opponent considers it a high value target, you played essentially a ‘vanilla 5/1/6 taunt’. If anyone recalls, Tar Creeper was pretty significant because it was a 3/3/5 taunt in your opponent’s turn. The easy fix for this is obvious to give it rush, and it’ll allow the card to be more proactive. You can also change the numbers around, like say, 5/3/6 and gains 3 attack this turn. Or, additionally, you can give it divine shield; the flavor being that boxers have their guard up when they are not delivering blows. Overall great design, but a weak draft.

It's one of the main problems with the original card, 4 mana requires 10+ armor gain to be a somewhat reasonable gain for the cost. Against most aggro or mid-range decks it would be straight-up unplayable, being basically that one Priest legendary which gives both players 2 turns, but here it would not only not have the 'reward' part of it, but it would have a requirement to use it in the first place. Pretty sure they work differently from something like League of Explorers Finley, which replaced your hero power. Regardless, the card designer has clarified in on the reddit post that it reverts upgraded hero powers to the base ones, and does nothing to other ones

Docking design because you can evolve to a 7 drop doesn't make sense because Shaman can already evolve to a 10 mana card on turn 2
@CardbroadM2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, but is THAT already a bad design? And we’re just repeating it in this case?

Having too much disruption is, imo, really bad for the game. Your opinion is that it's fine because it is too slow against aggro... When such thinking is applied to the game, it drives the game into a rock-paper-scissors state. And I mean it. If a deck type wins against a deck type it counters so consistently that the community calls it rock-paper-scissors, then there is a problem.
@wsmiles86772 жыл бұрын
Gruul the Ogrelord is an incredibly difficult card to put in a deck. This card is fine. You likely aren't just playing 4 ogres in your deck so you need to sacrifice deck slots for this combo. And Gruul is very slow.
@YourLocalJester2 жыл бұрын
@@wsmiles8677 Gruul is fine, I was talking about his reasoning.
@loosos46992 жыл бұрын
I have no idea how you arrived at this conclusion. Sure there were disruption effects that pretty much won the game when played, like far-watch post against aggro, but aggro still had a chance if the slower deck draw poorly or it pulled got some insane start itself. The only true rock-paper-scissors came with matchups like control vs combo or control vs control with a guaranteed win condition. Those were the games where it would make sense to concede since there is almost a 100% chance you lose if you are on the wrong side of the matchup. This card targets precisely those matchups and gives some fighting chance to regular control decks against combo. And it's not like the effect is easy to achieve summoning 4 ogres which are generally pretty bad and then playing a finisher on the turn where you can still stop the combo is not at all guaranteed, combo would still probably have a favorable matchup but there would be a reason for the control deck to stick around and try to win. Also, you may not realize but 4 ogres is a lot for a tribe that is quite rare, you would need to run at least 6 ogres for consistency, and with the Grull that is a 7 card package which will make you a lot weaker to any deck that plays faster. All of that just so you can have a chance against combo and some control, it still might not be a tradeoff many decks would make.

Almost every card game is rock paper scissors because that's the end state of powercreep. Powercreep sells packs and makes money, so companies do more and more until they terminally fuck up the games balance and reach a point of no return. From there the best thing you can do is maintain rock paper scissors, because the damage has been done and no amount of bans or nerfs will improve the game. People will look at new sets comparing them to older, more powerful ones and asking why they should play any of these cards, at which point they quit. It's all about profit, and what makes money in card games is powercreep, no matter how toxic and anti-consumer it is.

The way it's worded Sapphiron doesn't consume mana, when you get to 11 you get to play it for free. Anyway still balanced, 0 mana 12/12 on 11 mana ok.

It doesn't play until you first arrived at 12 available mana crystals. Druids can Wild Growth on turn 11 (leaving them on 9) and only have Sapphiron play itself at the start of their next turn. Same principle.

11:19 It does work with Wildpaw Gnoll, if you have Maestra of the Masquerade active you discount the Wildpaw Gnoll by drawing your rogue cards. Drawing and adding to your hand are the same in the context of Wildpaw Gnoll

Well, 10 months late to the party, but I think the downgrade of Paladin's Hero Power (card: Sir Finley of the Sea) is too much of a downgrade. Any other hero power would still be useful in some circumstances, but adding a 0/1 to the field will only take space. I think it must have at least taunt.

8:30 wait? what? i was sure it was getting 1-3 star balance has its stupid a lot of them ruins control vs control, dude paladins can never work and warrior losses a lot of use from there hero power (shield blast being the main one in standard but in wild its even more of a downside) i think this card is the most consistent "tech" card to ever be made with some decks not caring about losing there hero power and some decks heavily needing the hero power (quest line warlock gets buffed but that about the only deck where its bad to downgrade it) its so strong in wild and standard it should never see print unless shaman is in a super bad spot or they have to never make decks like armor warrior that uses armor to summon/discount we cant see any strong card in warlock for self damage do something equal to the damage dealt and silver hand recruits will need some start of game strong effect that can bypass the 0/1 i even think 5 star design might be to lean on it when i think about it more deeply its so scary and is so strong against the archetypes we have seen blizzard print in the past where sure this card can see print if hero cards are rampant and are cheap and consistent it can be fair to have the opponent not have a hero power for 5-8 turns but i think the high roles are insane and unfun (i can name 5 decks i have played in legend that will just have had to concede the second they see its effect)

The Felix Ficasso card would affect Wildpaw Knoll based on how Maestras works since drawing a card from another class counts as adding it. Unless it only works on cards in hand which would need to be specified on the card.
