If I look it from outside it looks like that. In addition very anti-intelligent. Charles has not demanded to be the head of state, but just do the work. I find it anti-intelligent, because the Premiers should respect the constitution. That's the basis of law-based society. Furthermore, the country is independent and can anytime become republic if the people choose it. Charles has nothing to do with these issues, but it's all in hands of Australians. The tantrum of the politicians is simply imbecile. Anyway, one Premier (Mine...?) who is going to be more involved in this trip, promised to put on his best behaviour, even if he is well-known republican. His statement was spot on. (But he isn't either attending the reception, but several other programme items).

Our Queensland Premier is facing an inglorious defeat in an election in a little over a week - supposedly that's his reason for not meeting the King. His politics are very much left of centre, hence he's not a royalist. I'm sure the King will not miss seeing this guy. As for citizen me - I am happy to have King Charles as our official Head of State for Australia as it gives our political system stability and a sense of tradition. As long as the state governors, the Governor General and the Prime Minister and Opposition Leader are there, that’s all that matters. The last Royal tour here was H&M and there was a huge turnout for that. But they have done a lot of damage here. People felt very angry of their antics here.

They made war ON europe in 1914 and again in 1933. That's why after WW2 they could only build a 'limited army' as a 'defence' force. As an Australian I am proud of our King and Queen and IMO most Australians loved the late Queen. While being ambivalent about Charles and Camilla I believe that sentiment has changed. Regarding our Rude Premiers, all bar one state Premiers are Labour Party Starmer-like despots. There is not one of them that is interested in the well being of the people. I'm an Australian and I am discussed by the leaders of my country and the disrespect they are showing the King. Plans for a Republic have been ongoing for 20 or 30 years and still no model on what it will look like. Australia needs to pull their finger out if they want to go down this road.

IMO, the King has a deep connection to Australia because of the time he spent at Geelong Grammar School in Australia. He seemed to find his emotional & psychological footing because the other students accepted him for who he was, and let him just get on with student life, occasionally taking the mickey out of him, but without bullying him.

Until there is a definite blueprint for how a republic will work, most Australians are happy with a Constitutional Monarchy. Personally Paula I believe the vast majority of Australian general public actually want to keep Royal Family as Head of State but the Republicans have louder megaphones . But they should be careful what they wish for. Going by what happens in America for four years at a time. Or what about Rhodesia now Zimbabwe it used to be the breadbasket of Africa, what's their inflation rate now. What about Idi Ahmin Uganda, Ceaucezco in Romania, Haiti for example the Presidential Couple cleared out the County's bank before fleeing the Country now living the high life in Paris. There quite a few more I coud mention. Argentina caused a war to give people something else to think about rather tha the corruption going on,only to find Maggie had on steel knickers on that day and we told them what we thoughtabout that. I wonder if we could do it now. China and Russia are sneaking into the Country's in the West Indies and the Caribbean where the king is no longer the Head of State to me it doesnt seem to be working well for the people. Perhaps there is a conspiracy theory trying to get get at the Monarchy. The system has been going for over a 1000 years, there's been ups and downs, a few tweeks here and there, laws being modified but overall it works. People need to do research, study History and take note.
