this video will more useful and informative specially when machine have no output current or OC light turns ON and machine stops welding.
welding machine have output voltage but no current or very weak output current. this diagram is applicable for 3 circuit card or single plate welding machine
mosfet or igbt welding machines are similar just there is very slight difference in gate drive components.
ight inverter welding machine have insulated gate bipolar junction transistor to produce high amount of switching current. while mosfets are used in parallel to increase current because mosfets have lower switching currents with compare to igbt.
for inverter welding machine repair it is much better to use circuit diagram or service manual so that the reapir and troubleshooting process becomes easier and quick and the repair quality is achieved in this way.

Thank you for this great walk-through. I modified mine by using an Arduino with smoothed analog PWM output in place of the potentiometer.This allows me to do H/L pulses and use a foot switch etc. Great little machine!

Thanks for the video, I appreciate your videos. I think there is a mistake in the control card, more precisely CA341 cannot work with the non-inverting input to the ground without symmetrical supply voltage (+-12V). If the supply voltage is asymmetrical (+12V and GND) the non-inverting input must be at a non-zero potential. I also did a simulation to convince myself

Great explanation of the inverter and how it works,been trying to repair my own.shorted the 4 mosfets on driver pcb and can’t find replacements part no on them K50T60 comes up as igbt yet schmatic symbol and board pins says D mosfet can’t figure it out

as per my knowledge K50T60 is IGBT (if it is B50n60T, P50T60, W50T60 then it will mosfet) sometimes there are print errors on pcb or diagram but if physical component have K50T60 then it is IGBT

Thanks Haseeb,it is clearly marked K50T60 with another number under it GAV-207 the welder is a HuGong mig stick 180 and unfortunately for me a discontinued model so parts unavailable the board clearly shows GDS pin out,the schmatic is not the greatest but shows mosfet symbol looks like N channel depletion no current direction markings,have to say I’m at a loss not a lot of info on these welders where I’m from

Thanks again Haseeb will order some more and try again,replaced them once before with igbt and 2 shorted soon as power was applied that’s when I noticed mosfet pin out so assumed wrong part,don’t want to risk damaging pcb,are there different channel igbts like mosfet has,or maybe I got poor quality part from China ebay

Sounds like a dead short, so by connect it to power, do you mean that just plugging the machine in is blowing the breaker ?

hi sir i have an inverter mma-180 welding machine and while start normal the green led lights and the fan works after few second s the light off and the fan stops i have notice there is a pcb on the bottom with ptc becede a relay and increase the resistance i suppose increase the current when the weld machine colds after 2 minute the same process happens could you tell what can cause this ?

What exactly determines the exact output voltage? Without load my output voltage is about 80VDC coming out of my cheap eBay inverter welder. I'd love to drop it because I have huge 110,000uf 63v capacitors I'd like to hook up on the output for added performance. 👍 Appreciate any input
