We need Apollo here in the UK. Gaugemaster (and others) have a forward/reverse switch, instead of the intuitive 'turn-to-the-left-for-train-to-the-left' / 'turn-to-the-right-for-train-to-the-right'

Looking good , and your videos have given me inspiration to do my own Inglenook shunting layout, as I have a modern flat and not much space ,so be perfect for me , also I've been lucky in the past to have done a real life ' Inglenook' with some shunting around the loco yard at a heritage railway I've been involved with and used the class 10 ( Blackstone deisel version of the class 08) , had to move some locos like a class 33 & 73 and a class 12 and some other wagons including a ex SR Queen Mary brake van , so that I could get one of our steam locos to the coaling road , very much fun and Working out the moves.

Sounds like you volunteered at Tunbridge Wells. I still do it as a job, but no longer in the UK and no longer involved in preservation

@@47606odin yes it's the spa valley railway, must be a great job diving trains in Australia.

@@ianstransporthistorystuff8175 yes and no. The railway where I am the scenery and routes is quite boring after a few years doing it. However, it pays the bills and allows me to keep playing model railways and buying stuff despite complaints from ‘er indoors lol. Well, I hope you have fun building an inglenook. Mines a bit longer than it needs to be as I want to be able to run round and play, but it all still fits on a shelf. Let me know how your build goes

@@47606odin will do and it's quite a small model, I used to work for BR back in the 1980s at Brighton and did station ticket office/ platform duties, and now I work at Gatwick as a airline check in agent now.

@@47606odin basing my railway on a small goods yard somewhere in the london north and some were between the midland and eastern regions , like the north london line , and not any given time period, so can run different locos and stock from the early grouping through to blue BR eras , as want to have this purely for fun.
