We used to do similarly on 700's back in the late 80's.

This sort of stuff is gold Richard. You did not have the time to run through these modifications in the old shop because you were so busy, but it is great to see your upgrade methods now you have more time. Wonderful!

Last video I hear Richard say "Machine" the ring, and I said to my self "Self...he doesn't have a bridgeport, and I don't think he's sending those out at $100 each to a machine shop"...LOL...Now we know...a Milwaukee death wheel is all you need. LOL. I just can't believe it, but I gotta...I just saw it. LOL. Good on ya Richard!

With the thinner steels and clutches available, using this idea can make it fit 6 clutches...062 steels and clutches leaves about .095 clearance

This is the mind of a real genius at work. There’s not many people that would look through these parts and say hey, do you know what I can do this with that and put that right there and Wala add an extra clutch and make it better.

I can see trans shops all over using this from now on . Good one Richard and Teresa . :)

Actually high performance diesel guys been doing this for years to these transmissions. They sell a machined reaction plate for this already made. Cummins owners got tons of tricks for the 47,.48, 68 transmissions to hold crazy power.

Richard, you REALLY need a lathe to cut those plates. It would save an enormous amount of time and effort.

You’re 100% right I put a lot of time into it

Depends if it’s hardened plate or soft enough to cut, which most are
@JohnSmith-ug5ci Жыл бұрын
@@Sicktrickintuner carbide would cut the hard ones so there is no depend about it.
@Sicktrickintuner Жыл бұрын
@@JohnSmith-ug5ci nope, really hard parts like chrome hardened rod or similar which most discs can be won’t be cut by some carbide.

Rebuilding my A727 for my 73 motorhome with the 440..This would add a bunch of strength..Finding the extra pressure plate is easy enough..Plenty on ebay...It's the snap ring that is hard to find.. Not going to a wrecking yard just for a snap ring..On line it is hard to find

Richard, found your channel Precision Transmission and watched many of your videos. I thought you had left since your last video was a year or so ago but then I found you had this channel. Love all your work but I'd like to see you do the transmissions from start to finish instead of just the disassembly. I found a few where you assembled but not many but would actually like to see you modifying and assembly. Keep up the good work.

Question Richard.do you do front wheel drive transmission teardowns.if so please do dodge
@petepeabody8905 Жыл бұрын
Too bad you don't have a machine to turn that down, but it looks like you don't really need one. Nice job

Hey Richard, love the videos. Whats the part number for that snap ring that you switch to? I easily found the forward apply plate but not finding a th350 “case snap ring”. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Couldn't you do the same trick on the forward clutch pack? Or is there no need on that one?
@richardteresacricheducatio35428 ай бұрын
You could, but there’s no need to the forward for clutch pack will hold a ton of power

You can do it. I bought an extra steel and clutch, the bottom plate (the one Richard is saying to use) and another Chevy circlip..The clearances on mine came out to .035 but I think that having large clearances isn't necessary because this clutch is on in all forward gears..So you went from 4 to 5 clutches.. All this is going in my 14K pound class A motorhome in a A727 with the 440 engine
