I've been inspired by your channel to pack my own lunches more instead of eating out, but they're definitely not as pretty 😅 I don't cook often, so things usually get left to the last minute and I don't know how to improvise to fix things. Here's a tip for next time; in the case of the broken broomstick handle, use the melted chocolate as your 'glue' because when it cools, it hardens and holds the two pieces together (you should've dipped the handle in chocolate then put it back in & leave it to set). The lotus skulls! 😄 All the characters on stage were my favorite bento. Well done Hanako, you are so patient! :)

I gasped with you when the handle of the broomstick snapped! But it worked out in the end, the smaller handle worked perfectly. The way you fearlessly experiment in the kitchen and keep going when something doesn't go right is something I always admire; if there isn't a recipe guiding me then I don't have much confidence when I cook. On the subject of Studio Ghibli, Spirited Away was the first I saw back when I was a teenager and is still my favourite, I also love Totoro and Ponyo ^o^ Chestnuts are traditional and popular here in the UK too, though we usually have them roasted over an open flame. At this time of year you'll occasionally see men with small portable fire-pits roasting chestnuts to sell in busy shopping area, though you're guaranteed to see them at Bonfire Night celebrations) which happen on or around the 5th of November).

The witches broom reminded me that we had an actual broom that looked similar at one of my old workplaces. My boss joked that it was the company car 😂. None of us ever used it (for sweeping or travel) but it was always there. Edit: I love all the Studio Ghibli movies. My favourite is My Neighbour Totoro, closely followed by Spirited Away. I got excited seeing No Face 😅. I remember watching Spirited Away in Japanese class

I have lotus root in the freezer. I bought it for pork and lotus root soup, but I bought more lotus root than I need for just soup. (Lotus root is not available anywhere near where I live, so I buy a lot of it and other ingredients when I am near a store where they are available.) So I am very happy to see recipes giving me more ideas for using lotus root! (Your Halloween decorations are absolutely adorable!)

I actually never had a chestnut before. We have a lot of chestnut trees, but they're not edible kind - the children like to make figurines with dark brown nuts and toothpicks ^^ The lotus ghosts are so genious! I'm also surprised to see that your vegetables sometimes look different than ours, when cut :D I think i will make the eggplant bento! Recently, i'm all about eggplants and zucchini, very tasty when grilled with garlic.

Another fun Hanako upload :) And no bowl mishap!! :D I bought a second bento box on the weekend (A plastic one from the supermarket) and made some sandwiches to take to work. I didn't use enough baking paper to wrap them, so they ended up a mess :P I'll have to try the grape sandwich after I do the next shop :) Itadakimasu, Hanako :)
