I do a 48-hour fast at least once a month. 5 days seems to be optimal to reach peak benefits, according to the charts I've seen. For significant weight loss, a quarterly fast of 7 to 14 days is very productive. Of course, if you do this, you need to get your protein and healthy fats when you're not fasting, and it's imperative that you get resistance training so your body does not reduce essential lean mass. Extended fasting isn't for everyone, but it's amazing for those who have a lot to lose. Dry fasting in the middle of your extended fast can enhance fat loss dramatically. PS: I find it very useful to start a fast on a Friday night, because not working lowers cortisol, and I have time to take long walks, which enhances the effect and staves off hunger. By day three or four, it's easier to forget about food, and you start feeling a lot of energy from ketones, lipids and epinephrin.

Hardest part was feeling very hungry around 7pm of the first day which is around my normal time to eat OMAD. Second 24 hr stretch has been easy, no hunger. I'm at ~ 145 pounds and ~ 12.8% body fat and am 5' 7" tall and just turned 61 about 6 weeks ago. In 2022 I went from 195.5 lbs to 157.3 between June 1st and September 30th and only discovered intermittent fasting in the last 3-4 weeks of that time and have used IF to get where I am now and maintain.

@Eren-da-Jaeger6 ай бұрын
@@ThomasDeLauerOfficial from where I am, we do a lot of such fastings some for festivals some for gods, some for different beliefs. No we don't need a doctor to tell about food, but fasting and its effects on body metabolics, how the liver responds to it, how the walls of your stomach change based on the type of food you intake repeatedly etc are confirmed by a gastroenterologist. So not that I am blaming you particularly, but if your claim is backed by a large sample size of subjects and scientific study then it will stand its ground. Many many(you wont believe) people are losing kidneys and GFR function declination due to various new food habits, oils and what not, specially caucasians and asians. I am moving out of here, but you have to think, are you making these claims for video views or betterment of people of world. I am asian and I for a long time thought we are very resilient to different foods and environments, but kidney and liver transplant recipient queue will tell you the reality.

When all one hears is how fasting is a calorie reduction method, few seem to acknowledge that fasting can or should also lower insulin levels. No matter how many calories one reduces, if someone is still eating half or more of the amount of sugar, other carbs, & some protein, insulin stays higher--and a body will not burn stored fat while insulin is high.

I went to the ER and they did all sorts of test and couldn't find anything wrong and also a cardiologist who couldn't. My best guess is I completely depleted my electrolytes and your heart has a pacemaker that runs on them and it got out of whack. It still doesn't feel the same. It's something to consider when doing this. It's not without risk.

I find it best to start my 36 fast after my last meal, which is usually late afternoon. I then add 5 hours to take into account the time it takes to fully empty the stomach. The actual fast time would start at... 2200 - just in time for me to be in bed and by 1000 the next day... 12 hours of net fasting time would have passed. I then simply ingest no kcal until the 36 or more hours have passed.
