I've just finished a 3 day water fast for today's Solemn Feast of the Immaculate Conception. I wish I had seen your video, because others recommend eggs post 3 day water fast. I ate1 hardboiled egg and a mini pickle before going to bed last night & that turned into some constipation, then diarrhea. Then I went to Mass this morning thought I was going to pass out, but then received the Eucharist and the faintness immediately went away... AMDG Now a couple hours later I'm sipping some chicken bone broth. I do feel a little weak, not sure if that means I should eat something more or take a nap. PLEASE advise. Thank you!

hi thanks for this video. i have some questions: 1. i was told by an expert that when breaking a long fast do not consume raw fruit or veg for at least 2 days, and no nuts either, as these are harder to digest and will cause your digestive system difficulties. ? 2. if after doing 72 hr fast, you broke the fast and then started eating heavily immediately, carbohydrates, proteins etc.....your cells will turn into fat cells right ? is there a way to reverse that damage ? maybe do another 24 hr fast the next day, will that fix it , reverse the fatty stem cells ? if not, then what will ? 3. how many days, after a prolonged fast of 72 hrs, do you wait before you can start consuming a lot of everything ? 3 days after ? 4. i fasted for 72 hrs. this is how i broke my fast: i took a couple of spoonful of kimchi, and half a glass of kefir. then 4 hrs later i ate a small ball of rice with tuna curry. the next day i didnt eat until 18hrs later. what i ate was half avocado, small amounts of grapes, kimchi and lettuce and blueberries. then 5hrs after that i ate a heavey meal, it was a huge bowl of rice with spicy lamb curry with hot chilli pickle. now, i didnt think having a large meal would be a problem since i had it on the 2nd day after i broke my fast. but what i found is that after a couple of hours i started getting cramps in my stomach. then eventually had to go to the toilet for diaorriah. i also felt brain fog and could not concentrate, and i felt a bit bloated and uncomfortable. and sleepy. normally if i have a large meal like this, it never causes me a problem. so what went wrong here ? and what damage have i caused myself ? and how do i reverse this damage ? thanks

Staying under 90kg now by keeping the refined carbohydrates down (not easy, because carbs WILL happen). Just take it easy and walk that marathon. All the teachers who have been saying to me that fasting was bad were all shocked. Meanwhile, all of them got positive results in their lab results. Some from their urine, some from their blood and the others, something wrong with their hearts. I thank God that people like Dr. Jason Fung still exists in this world. God bless you Dr. Jason Fung!!! Thrilled to bits.will ease back to food. Alternate days of fasting. Eventual goal is one meal a day(omad). Was doing this previously, fasting was to reach weigh faster then will maintain with omad. So happy, so worth it. If you think you cannot do fasting then you can't. if you think you can, then it's worth trying. Try one day at a time. I started with 1 day, then 3 days, then 7. Now going for 30. This is for health. Am 66 and do not drink, smoke or prescription drugs. Normal blood pressure. Want to go like this for another 25 years. Was going to end off with good luck, but it's not luck, it's determination and effort to reach my goal. I want to be my best, do my best, and I will have the best. You can too.

Are you saying that that is what you break your fast with or that that is what you eat while you think you are fasting? I am ten years older than you, and probably in better shape. I do not fast to lose weight, no need, I fast for longevity. My two cents is that I have found out that you should not supplement with vitamins or electrolytes while fasting, but if you are taking broth and juice during your fast your are really not fasting, so it may not matter so much.

Hey beloved how did this go? I have an auto immune condition related to my gut (leaky gut syndrome) linked with severe eczema and in have just done 6 days water fasting, was aiming for 7 but since I’m nutrient deficient I had to listen to my body and begin referring. Had some watermelon to begin with. Then a seamless smoothie with some bladderwrack and kelp for the iodine as it helps my thyroid function. Sorry to digress but I’m just trying to ascertain how you’re doing with such an extended fast and if it has benefitted you and to what extent. I thank you for your reply in advance 😊

@@asagemini6981 Thank you for asking. I did not go the full 30 days. However I had amazing results after only five days of a water fast. Brought all of my inflammation down enough to go through some required testing for allergies. It was a real page turner. I brought my inflammation So well under control that I could slowly but surely one food at a time go back to normal eating. I am also malnutrition due to malabsorption. Although I am not underweight. If I were underweight, I would not have fasted at all. Since that time (three months ago), I have yet to have a flareup. When normally I have a lot of flareups. So from this day forward if I have a flareup I will water fast for five days or until it’s completely under control. Works way way better than prednisone.

I’m so happy I stumbled on to a Jason Fung video about fasting and Type I I diabetes! I think it’s saved my life literally. Diagnosed with type 2 diabetes about 13-15 years ago, my doctor told me I would have diabetes for the rest of my life. Prescribed several medications including synthetic insulin, metformin and others. I probably followed his advice for about 8 or 9 years and felt miserable the whole time. KZbin had a video from Jason Fung about obesity and type 2 diabetes that I stumbled upon and it was the first thing that I ever heard or read about that made complete sense to me. I couldn’t understand why I kept gaining weight even though I was eating the lame dietary recommendations from the doctor and the weight loss industry. My eyes were finally opened hearing what Dr Fung was explaining. My A1C went from 12 to 5.9 after doing some intermittent fasting and several longer term fasts. I’ve gone as long as 14 days a few times and felt fantastic. The longer term fasts seem to work best for me. I no longer take any diabetes medication and am consistently losing weight. Still have a ways to go to get to my ideal weight but I feel so much better not being on that medication. The doctor I was seeing left his practice for 6 months to hike the Pacific Crest trail and I was forced to find another doctor. I’m a Veteran from the Viet Nam era and ended up utilizing my VA benefits for medical. Unfortunately the VA still to this day prescribes Insulin, Metformin , etc…to Type 2 diabetics and promotes a low fat diet for weight loss. WRONG!!! So glad I found Jason Fung on KZbin! I think it’s saved my life! Thank you Dr Fung!!!

Everyone is so different on what bothers them after a longer fast. When I do less than 40 hours, (been IF over 2 years ) I don't have much problems as long as I eat a very small meal then wait an hour to resume my LCHF diet with 18/6 IF. My longer fasts 3-7days, need much more consideration to refeeding. I've learned I can refeed with scrambling eggs, into sautéed,( in coconut oil) fresh tomatoes topped with nutritional yeast, wait an hour then another small meal maybe yogurt and berries. Wait another hour. Then after that I'm pretty good to go. This has taken me a lot of trial and error to figure out what works for me. Me too. Tomorrow is day 28 for me. I just take bile salts, carb free electrolytes, and some anti bug herbs all in gel capsules. The electrolytes makes things so much easier...
@chrischangfong38733 жыл бұрын
@@richardkalmwater5996 Mann I am feeling super weak all over. It's a chore to do the simplest activities, like I have to take multiple breaks when brushing my teeth for example. I'm taking my 1/2 teaspoon of salt everyday to combat any hyponatremia, but it's tough to pull through. I used to weigh 400 lbs and have come down to 368 as of today tho, so that's a plus. Just wish the weakness would go away.
@richardkalmwater59963 жыл бұрын
@@chrischangfong3873 Dr Berg electrolytes in water is what keeps me going. 3 scoops a day with salt. Since the fast, I will get low blood pressure in the morning so I will take a full minute to rise to my feet so I don't fall. After that, I feel decent the rest of the day. I even take a 15 min walk to get some sun. My main goal is to rid myself of SIBO which I believe is at epidemic levels in the USA... A tape measure is your best friend. Take measurements throughout the day to see when your belly bloats and shrinks. Get to know your body's patterns and how it reacts. This info helped me diagnose the SIBO in my body...

I’m 23 days into an indefinite fast. Wanting to loose as much weight as possible. The fatigue you mention sound familiar! I’m not a doctor by any stretch but I would suggest taking more electrolytes and asking your doctor to do some blood work to check your nutrient and electrolyte levels. I’ve never felt better mentally. It’s been wonderful!

Another. very informative presentation - thank you DR Fung . As a side note I was listening to an old radio programme today called 'Dr At Large ' . This programme was from a series of light hearted semi autobiographical accounts of life as a doctor in the UK in the late 40's/ early 50's . They were written by Dr Richard Gordon ( who sadly died in 2017 ) . Anyone growing up in the UK in the 60's/70's would have been aware of these doctor books as they were serialised on TV . What struck me in the episode today was that one doctor said to another ' not to have sugar in your tea because sugar is high carbohydrate and high carbohydrate leads to obesity ' . So doctor at large was written in 1955 and so Dr Richard Gordon must have been taught this theory of obesity . Maybe at med schools in the 40's they were still aware of Banting or maybe because of the shortage of sugar in the war years the harms of sugar were more vocalised so that people didn't think they were missing out too much ???

OMAD has it's place, but for me regular 36 hour fasts were the best for weight loss (sustained body fat loss) and skin reduction. But with frequent fasting like ADF, on eating days I did not do OMAD. Frequent fasting means you have to be extra kind to your body and eat well (healthy and enough). Of course it depends on goals, amount of excess body fat, diet, etc.

I generally start with 6 eggs with cheese and couple of bacon slices that day to help body re-composition. paired with a side of steamed vegetables and cauliflower rice. #4- next day i do standard 20:4 with fish as a protein source and protein shake supplemental #5-following days are just the regular routine 20:4 of high fat, low carb, protein sources rotation of (chicken, beef, lamb, etc) with a supplemental protein shake #6- that rotation (#5) stays for about 2 weeks until the next 48h-72h long fasting then back to (#1)

Bulletproof Coffee works best for me as a pre-meal. At this point of my journey I’m not interested in fasting beyond 3 days. If I’m planning to go 48 hours or longer, I chop up a bunch of seasonal veggies, a good quality sausage and maybe a slice or two of precooked bacon. Toss it in a slow cooker along with some water and whatever spices I feel like using. Sometimes I’ll add a broth of some kind instead of water. That’s what works for me as a first meal after two or more days of fasting. After simmering in a slow cooker for 2 or more days, it’s delicious.
