Not that there is much to do in Falkirk yet its just 10 mintues away from Stirling and is easy to take in and visit at the same time, used to be called "Stirlingshire", I live in the centre, if you've been in the high street here while visiting the Kelpies you may have saw this little church and yard I made a little video about , William Wallace best friend is burried here along with some of his commanders, its practically my garden, loads of folk don't know about it, up the hill from here is the Antonine wall (Rather what is left of it) the old Northern most point of the Roman empire, there is a big mansion (now open to the public I think) and park with woodlands and a lake (was an old Roman reservior) It's the place where the company that made Irn Bru started out, Falkirk wheel is here kzbin.info/www/bejne/q2Gcf5uuj9qNfZosi=EKLHfBM7_5Eed3kY There is often a market and other things going on in the high street. Not sure 48 hours worth of things to see and do yet for folk who like the quiet and a bit of history, there are thousands of years of it here.

Stirling is one of the most important places, in terms of history, in Scotland. Its location, has been far more significant than the likes of Edinburgh and has really played a huge part in what shaped the Scotland we live in. Nice that you also focussed on Snowdon, Valley, Mar, and Holy Rude cemeteries too. One final thing, the Battle of Bannockburn monument is just that, it's not even the location of the battle which happened closer into Stirling and on the carse to the east. There have been a number of digs at the location and, at most, they have found a few items from a couple of hundred years ago...but nothing significant. The Bruce's statue location, close to part of the Roman road from Torwood, was probably a muster point.

I definitely preferred Stirling castle to Edinburgh castle, but I think you have to be a history nerd to really appreciate what Stirling castle has done! 😄 We ended up walking around with the guide (after the tour) for an hour, and just looking at all the tiny amazing details ❤️ Also; There seemed to be so way fewer people visiting Stirling castle, so not as overcrowded 🤭

My top castle recommendation is Craigmiller castle in Edinburgh though! That one is so special and beautiful 😍

That's because Stirling is/was the capital of the Highlands so should have a lot more historical value compared to the lowlands of Edinburgh

@@HootMaRootThe capital of the Highlands is Inverness, not Stirling. To claim that Edinburgh has less historical value than Stirling is honestly delusional. I live in the North East, about an hour North of Inverness, and although I absolutely love Stirling, I wouldn’t consider it to be so different from “the lowlands of Edinburgh.” I mean, they are only a 50 minute drive apart.

I'm very fortunate to live around 10 miles from Stirling. The castle is just as good as Edinburgh Castle if not better especially in the Summer plus the added bonus of Wallace Monument in the distance. Also, as stated, it's worth purchasing a Historic Scotland membership card, this will save you a lot of money in the long term. For example a family card with up to 6 children costs £113.50 ($149) for as many sites/locations as you want including Edinburgh Castle. Edinburgh Castle family cost including 3 children will cost for a Family 2 adults with 3 children £66.50 ($87.32) online or £75.00 ($98.49) walk in price. The membership card can be used at Stirling and Edinburgh Castle on it's own thus saving you a lot of money.

We hope to make a day trip to Stirling from Edinburgh (have a daughter at uni there) in April, but, want to add a stop in Culross. Do you think that’s doable, using public transportation?
@evelynwilson15668 ай бұрын
I live in the area. It would be difficult to do in a day. If you were going from Stirling you could get the train to Alloa, then change for the Dunfermline bus, which is about once an hour during the day. It's only about half an hour on the bus from Alloa but the problem would be coordinating the bus and train. The Traveline Scotland website is good and will show you bus and train times.If you want to see the area properly it's best to stay for a few days.

Thanks for the upload. Although I only live about 8 miles from Stirling, at the foot of the Ochil hills, I really enjoyed your guide and found it informative. While I can't really add much to what you've already mentioned, I will say that the term 'roaster' from the coffee house you sat in (Unorthodox Roasters) is something of a teasing insult, up there with other friendly-fire such as 'numpty' or 'dafty', the kind of insult you reserve for a loveable idiot, or family member who's being a bit dense/slow. I'm glad you enjoyed your stay here in Rainland, again. All the best.

I happened to stay in Stirling for a year during 2011/12 for my postgraduate degree from the University of Stirling. That was a lovely experience there. I still cherish the memories of my stay in Stirling. Birds and Bees and Settle Inn are the two best pubs, that I personally loved, for hanging out and socialising after a hectic work day, The nachos at the Birds and Bees are really awesome. Burgh Coffee House, supposedly in the Stirling city centre, is the best place I found in case you want to quickly catch up with someone.

Question: My husband and I are traveling to Scotland in Sept and so many videos talk about pre-planning everything even down to meal reservations. Is that more for the high summer months or also into September? We are visiting Stirling for a day. Do I really need to book each event before I get there or is it ok to take the day as it unfolds. I have really been wondering about this with Edinburgh as well. Thanks much! Love your videos
