Yes, garbage and dirty laundry solutions. Having a rollout trash unit fundamentally changed the functionality of my home. And having a spot inside the unit for the garbage bags was also important. I think my favorite toy of this entire section is the screw pocket jig...it really makes a huge difference in the finish of your build.

I want a bus this size. It is so interesting to see you build it from start to finish. I want to have a full size passenger seat (not a tiny little jump seat) at the front of the bus by the door so my passenger and I can talk while driving. Someone out there has done it I’m sure. The quality and detail of your work just keeps getting better. What is the thickness of the plywood you use for the cabinets? Looks like 1/2 inch, is that right? Didn't realize you could use the Kreg jig on half inch stock. I will have to try that now. Save some weight and thickness. 1/4 inch here and there can really add up in a tight space like a bus or van build.

Curious as to why when putting in the interior pieces of the cabinet so things don’t go falling into the voids, you would screw them from the outside? Are you assuming you’ll never have to access the components? Otherwise you’ll have to take apart all the cabinets to get at say the water tank.

Uhh crazy question. So I was pitching this idea to a guy. He said to ask someone who has converted a schooly if the gearing is geared for highway use. I’m not mechanically inclined. Thanks
@navigationnowhere
@navigationnowhere 3 жыл бұрын
The gearing for every bus is different. You want to check the badge numbers on the Diff. and Trans. For example: My 2004 Thomas Frieghtliner (Navi) had a 5.33 rear gearing when I bought it. I did a core swap and put in a 4.33. It took my top speed from 55 mph to 70 mph easy and increased my MPG. It does cost a bit to swap the core ($1600 for me) so I would suggest finding a bus with the right gearing from the start or do the math and see if a core swap is worth it to you. Hope that answers your question.

Luc had a bus a year ago and sold it to build his FJ. We are talking about getting him another one for the summer or 2021

@@navigationnowhere They make these awesome split cups (I think they're for grilled cheese and tomato soup), and if you like your oatmeal on the thicker side like I do you can drink your coffee out of one side without spilling your oatmeal out the other. I love me a one-handed carry! 😅

Why do you use so much wood everywhere? Every pound counts.

It's going to be his full-time house, so I imagine he's mostly using wood bc he wants to. Besides, Mike's done multiple builds and actually knows what he's doing.

@@ashleejones1690 it’s a ‘house’ that drives. It uses fuel to go. And it uses brakes to stop. If it’s heavy, both of those things can be impaired.

The bus will weigh under the original capacity (dry weight) than when I first bought it. We take into account weight distribution and overall capacity in the builds. Ill have numbers when the bus is done and get it to a weight station. It is a valid concern in any build though.

You have to have 2 sets of clothes. Standing around naked in the local laundromat is generally frowned upon. I won't go into how I know this but take my word for it. Stupid restraining orders.
