Series 2 - The Top End
Ep 5 - 48 Hrs on a Croc Infested River - We Caught a Crocodile!! - Corroboree Billabong
Yep!! We bloody well caught a croc!! And slept next to them whilst we spent 48 hours out on the Corroboree Billabong.
Wait’ll ya see the sunset and sunrise we were blessed with! This joint really made us pinch ourselves.
Do ya reckon we could actually still be in the garden of Eden?? We just don’t have our eyes open long enough to see it?? We’re too busy with our heads in our phones, or in our hustle and bustle of life?? Just a little thought..

Happy Birthday from a fan from Bulgaria 🎉 I found your channel because I already watched most of the European English-speaking van/caravan/camper travell-across-Europe videos in the past years, since we bought our first camper(RV) and YT apparently decided to broaden my desire for new places and bigger rig and started suggesting us your videos a week ago. So me and my wife binge watched a big chunk of your videos and initially we were awed by the Australian nature and the huge caravan and truck you have, now mostly by the calm and happy lifestyle and family you have. We started with a Sprinter campervan and moved to 7.5m European camper (motorhome) after our 2nd kid was born recently (considered one of the biggest you can drive with normal EU license and the tiny roads in Europe) but we are just using it for vacations and weekends and spare time, now as the bigger daughter started 1st grade school and we are tied to the city. So I really wonder how do you deal with Evie's school when you're on the road (or off it) full time? Our jobs allow us to work remotely and gladly mobile Internet is available pretty much everywhere and is cheap in most of the European countrues, but school is a big blocker. PS. If you feel old you should come to Europe-here people have their kids in 30s nowadays. I had my 1st daughter in late 20s and were regarded as young father. I have half of my friends in mid 30s and still no wives and kids yet. Be glad for the beatiful nature, family and boy's-toys you are surrounded by at this young age. Here you have to work for years to afford such big family and free lifestyle and you'll still lack the freedom to park and roam wherever you want. Even fishing is so restricted. Spear fishing is absolutely forbidden in most of Europe. I fished when young but now it's too much hassle (and no much fish nowadays), so watching you and your daughter catch those big ones makes me 😮

Blinging up your croc with his own jewellery.. nice. It will rust out within a few days no problems. Now I feel old, I remember camping at Corroboree billabongs and starting a grass fire that took off and burnt half our stuff and about 50 acres as well about 5 years before you were even born, so don’t feel too bad old fella you got a long way to go yet 🎉

Thank you for sharing your adventures. I've been to Corroboree billabong. We did a 2 hrs cruise but I would of loved to have spent more time there. I was gob smacked coming back to the boat dock, on the other side of the billabong/River like. There was the biggest and I mean HUGE croc sunning himself mouth open just resting. Then at the boat ramp we see 2 guys mid Thigh in the water undoing a boat from its trailer. The signs all about the place warning not to enter the water, not to dispose of fish waste. We have plans to go back there. Hopefully next yr.

Happy Birthday bro!!. Heres some tips with crocs...and remember...before you do anything, set yourself up so can deal with a situation should it arise, such as, grab knife, machete, and other tools including a handheld gas burner. (get back to that later) a) for that situation of hooking the croc...you did all correct, keep the croc facing away, like your over its back half, but you needed to grab a pair of your long tongues and wrestled that loure off. IF YOUR GAME, and it's less than 1m, bring it up and cover his head with towels again from behind, you hold down pressure on its head and Mrs dislodge loure. REMEMBER to COVER ITS EYES...A CROC CANNOT BITE YOU IF HE CANT SEE YOU 😊. b) from previous experience, and backed by many biological university tests, it was discovered by a dude from country West Australia named Halliwell that when agreesive animals like crocs, sharks, even dogs, they will aggressively hold its prey believing its going to be taken, So to have them release what they hold of is to apply SEVERE HEAT! What is meant ny this is, to make ANY animal open their mouths if someone is being held onto, you need to apply fire or flame to the animals most sensitive parts as nose and eyes. Best is to use a small handheld gas burner and apply to its nose first, if no release action, then go for the eyes. These methods are 99% proven to work. IF you don't have this item as such, boiling water, or heat up a large metal device like screw driver till red hot even sticks from a fireplace and apply to the animals nose or eyes and it will immediately release its grip on the person it has hold of. c) futher advice in croc country...DONT HANG BODY PARTS OVER THE EDGE!! CROCS have learnt from tourist tours to LEAP out of the water using their tails to reach up and over to snatch its food...AND THEY WILL ATTEMPT A HUMAN GRABBING ARMS AND LEGS IF HUNGRY... Hope this info is helpful for next time and all others reading this message. Keep up great channel guys. Cheers.🍺🍻

Good on you for writing this advice for The Cartwrights, and any one else that watches this video, and reads your comment. I did a 12 day boat trip in The Kimberley, the crew were always mindful of crocs as they untied and tied up our tenders. We were warned to stay away from stern of boat at night, they did have gates locked off at night to prevent us stepping down on transom as crocs actually slept on the back at night. Never did see this personally, but they did hang around the catamaran under the waterfall hole they parked us under for the night. Looked like Rocks with eyes 😅. So much beauty in Oz, yet need to be careful.. looked like a beautiful little trip, so many fantastic experiences for the kids.

@@highvibe4839 cheers HV, it's great to hear someone listens to warnings and has the knowledge now to pass on this to others, thanks for listening and taking it in 👍. Yes, crocs are dangerous and smart, they follow repetitious behaviours of their prey, So if they can see that someone stops the boat jumps out and ties it up, in a short amount of time they will be waiting between the boat and tie off point to grab you! Kids are the worst because they make a lot of noise, are slow moving and don't realise how dangerous Crocs are therefore If one is near edge of the water That is what they will target first and if anything on the boats they can power out of the water and grab a person if they are seriously hungry. In the past we have seen a boat cruising along and the small dog fell off the side, By the time the boat slowed down turned around to come back would have been less than 60 seconds of which within that time a crock had grabbed the animal and taken it away... They associate boats with food especially now that tourist boats that do feedings are doing so much of it once they hear the tone of a boat engine however far away that is where they target where what people don't know is they are following behind the boat they are in whether it is 20 or 200 m behind they are following the boat like kids do the ice cream van knowing eventually they will get there for their desserts.
