Hi Guys, not sure if you read all the comments but I just saw your latest video and I'm sure you don't only have a solar issue you also have is a battery wiring issue or a faulty battery... I understand your running a 48v lithium system. Just check all your positives are off the first battery bank and all your negatives are on the last battery bank.. second to that stick on panels or blankets are crap. They will always overheat and you'll lose efficiency.

Hay guys used to do a heap of bms controls in pretty big aircon systems in stainless steel switchboards and all that used to over heat. Im sure you have looked into it of adding fans to draw air into where your batteries systems are but if you can vent the aircon to the compartment where your system is behind your fridge could help alot.

Jackson, I honestly think that your solar issue is due to you not having an air gap between the panels and the roof of the van. Don't forget guys, you don't have to drive to charge your set up. Just plug the van into the ando and turn the truck on. Also, it might be worth getting a generator for "those" times

Maybe feed some cool air in from the van when the aircon is running or at least feed in new air that’s not from outside and full of dust.

Positives way outweigh the negatives I am sure. Just a quick one, your solar panels may be overheating laying flat on the roof, and that may be why they are cutting out and when you were driving the cooler air of the passing wind they worked again. Maybe consider using a water mist spray system for a few hours when parked, they are sold at Bunnings etc, for patio's and outdoor entertainment areas, to spay a fine mist and cool off. In your case, mounted upwind on the roof spraying across the panels, worth a try, they dont use too much water, like 10L an hr or something.

If your alternator is not an integral part of your charging network you need a dc to dc charger regulated with the solar regulators. The problem is the different regulators start to force each other into false charge states, having everything on one network control system avoids this and optimal input wattage can be achieved.

Great video guys I would never use any of Safiery products ever again. Over promise and under deliver everytime. We had untold issues with their panels and batteries on a van we had and the Gold Class online support we paid for was a waste of money. Their history and customer reviews speak for themselves. They just refuse to return calls, texts or emails. Travel safe and hope you get it all sorted.

Solar panels need ventilation and cooling, put a hose on them and watch the response 🙃they start loosing efficiency after 25 deg C
@FarqueKnowsWhereАй бұрын
Just a couple ideas, I hope whoever installed your solar system did the maths properly. The big charge controller might be too small? Or if the charge controller is in a small space and can’t keep cool, perhaps vent it to the inside of the van to get some air con if possible, or just some good airflow especially getting hot days, seems the problem starts after the morning coolness has gone? Panels need an inch or so gap underneath for airflow, a panel’s performance is rated at 25deg C. But a bigger problem is the 25% joy and happiness, that’s pretty low, have you adapted to this life? Great video…

As always guys a FANTASTIC video and thank you for showing us that its NOT all golden sands and crystal clear sea's but in fact a full day loading up and setting down JUST a quick question .. as your SO reliant on your solar and battery ... All the best from the getting colder UK STAY SAFE GUYS ❤

Hey guys have you thought about running a 12v computer van over the electrical panel vented to outside to provide cooling?
@jaksmasterАй бұрын
I was wondering about what tow bar suspension you use. I've seen an 8 ton truck after travelling over a few hundred K's on horrorgations break a caravan draw bar before, without any tow bar suspension. That was an old truck and caravan with only spring suspension not air bags. Truck suspension is to rigid for caravans.

Does your vans power system have the little cooling fan mounted on the back of the solar controllers to help cool them from over heating
@ianking6772Ай бұрын
I think I know why you’re having solar problems when you have more than one solar controller or DC to DC. They put out a certain voltage that voltage is seen by the other unit and it shuts down to float mode. I’ve been having this problem. The problem is float mode for a 100 amp battery would work fine but when you have 600 amp power plus a trickle charge is not high enough unfortunately most of the controllers don’t ask the question. What rating are you using? If they did this? They would know that a trickle charge is not 10 A it’s more like 40. I’m such a large unit, solar controllers and DC to DC controllers need to have a logic built into them and I don’t know whether any of them do. I hope this is helpful.
