48. Kiln Opening Reglaze dilemma - Did I save the Gnomes?

Oh my gosh these all turned out soo beautifully! Love the gnomes so much. The reviews turned out really well. Maybe add some lace to the rim of the hat on the one that the glaze didn’t cover so well. I haven’t done low fire pieces for so long I forgot how stable they are. Cant believe how the one tree with the oxides turned out. Looks awesome.

Thanks Michele. Just found some old YT kiln openings I'd forgot tot upload from last year! I'm just so pleased I managed to save them from the bin! Great idea about the lace. I've got some low fire terracotta I've been trying to use up for ages so thought these may be a suitable project for it. :)

Always fun trying something different, and failures are part of that process, but always a bonus when you can turn some failures into successes isn't it x

The gnomes all looked good to me. I love the way you glazed the trees. What kind of form did you use on all these? I have some low fire clay, too, and hadn’t thought to use it for things like gnomes or trees.

Well the trees were a happy accident in the end LOL, definitely three unique ones :). I made a terracotta cone, bisque fired it and used this as a base to build them on, but then I found some cardboard cones on amazon in three sizes which I found easier to use. I had so much low fire clay left over from when I first started that I had to find things to make that were not dinnerware. Made lots of Christmas decorations from them and used stroke and coat to decorate. only a couple of bags left to use now :)
