Look at the way he reversing that heavy load,magic
@rogerwhittle20783 жыл бұрын
Vicky Newnham. The weight of the trailer and load is almost irrelevant, it's the length of the trailer. The longer the trailer, the easier it is, but you need more room to do it in. Those tiny 'household trailers' from Halfords are easier to reverse if you unhitch them and move them by hand, otherwise they are a nightmare. I'd love to take a shot at reversing something like that. Enjoy your new trains and I'm glad to see the old 1938 stock is going to a good home.

Great footage of a start of a new chapter in Isle of Wight railways. I would be great if the rest of the network that was shut down, reopened. Then all residents could take advantage of these Viva rail reworked units.

Are the refurbished London Underground D78 stock from the 1938 powered by the 3rd rail DC or as other Vivarail D types using their think Transit diesel engines? Used to use the IOW ferry the train to Shanklin to visit a pcb company near the station in the 1990's for BSI (UL). Thanks for the video.

Thank you glad you like the video, I believe these are Battery operated with the use of the 3rd rail when the batteries are running low
@neilcrawford83033 жыл бұрын
Class 230 are the Vivarail DMUs. The West Midlands Trains units 230 003-005 on the Marston Vale line being diesel electric multiple units The Transport for Wales 230s 230 006-010 are diesel/battery electric hybrid multiple units for the Bidston (where they share the station with Merseyrail 3rd rail 507s & 8s) to Wrexham line. The 484s are EMUs just like previous IOW stock as the entire line is electrified.

I last travelled on IOW railways in 1954 of course it had real steam locomotives. While travelling to Ventnor the staff had to stop the train at one point because cattle had strayed on to the track.

Will this be replacing the current steam engines on the island?
@Twittler13 жыл бұрын
There are no current steam engines on the island. The new trains’ predecessors are refurbished London Underground 1938 (maybe ‘62 actually) deep level tube stock. They are lower and narrower than these, which are extensively refurbished ex London Underground 1992 ‘D’ sub-surface line stock, almost the same size as ordinary standard gauge BR stock. All of the island’s stations have had to have new, higher level platforms constructed to accommodate them.

I might have ridden one of these along the District Line many years ago. Also, regarding the music, there is something about the first track that goes against the grain - I think it's the way the notes cut in and out, but I'm no music expert and people have different tastes in music.

Interesting footage there. Don't know that the inclusion of still frames enhanced it in any way. But that soundtrack. Eugh! Three chords and thump, thump, thump, thump, thump, thump, and on and on and on and on …! Get the sound level down to about half of what it was and that would be an improvement. Even lower would be better.
