I’m glad her nephew got cleared. I didn’t believe he killed her. But a sentence of only twenty years! Ridiculous. I love Troy Roberts. You can see that this isn’t just a job for him: He deeply feels for the victims and their loved ones. And thank you, 48 Hours, for these shows.

I don't agree. This man was clearly mentally ill, probably schizophrenic untreated. He didnt sell much or any of those items he took, he didn't have the mental capacity to do much with that stuff. He was loved dearly & his friends/family. they saw him change over the years & struggle. And drug use to treat those voices happens. Its textbook. 20 years is fair, he will likely be in a psych portion of the prison, he cant hold a job or socialize well. The friends that knew and loved him, who tipped of the police, were heros here. He pleaded guilty probably by their request or encouragement. He likely belongs institutionalized & medications.

yes he was spoiled but this is typical of the very wealthy.. he was a successful DJ, just didnt make bankers digits.. he was completely honest about his generous aunt and his earlier habits (drinking, needed money to start a business, etc) from the start he was how l would imagine his aunt to be, outgoing, direct, and truthful.. stop making him the bad guy STILL, even after learning it was someone else.. good grief.

My mom is a retired banker who dealt with very wealthy clients. She always had the best stories about them from brawling teeth and knuckles at will readings to finding c*caine, loose diamonds, tons of cash and questionable pictures in their safe deposit boxes. She said if you want to see the rich and refined turn into common gutter trash throw some money in the air. 😂😂😂 People like Linda kind of set themselves up for disaster once they start and keep doling out money freely, especially to friends and family (and gigolos). People turn into straight vultures who you somehow owe in their minds.

it's like. kinda weird they called it inappropriate because while her suitors were much younger than her, they weren't actually "young" the way a lot of people would imagine with very old men and very young women. the examples 48 hours gave of "inappropriate" was someone 18 years younger than her and someone 27 years younger than her. If I were to assume she met them around the time she got her surgery, which was 55, that means they were 37 to 28 years old respectively, if not older depending on when she started dating them. While those age gaps are huge, both men are well into the years where they probably had a stable career, identity, and enough life experience to make experienced decisions with dating and who to trust. Like 37 and 28 are both around 30-40ish, they're not even young. They're totally younger than her, but they're not children or kids who just became adults like "inappropriate" would imply.

48 hours tried to make a chilling story of this but don't be duped. The suspect was mentally ill. He never had a relationship with Linda, Linda picked up on his mental illness & nothing come of that. The suspect was incapable of any romantic relationship due to mental illness. He just knew where to find her. He is probably paranoid schizophrenic (untreated). This whole situation sounds weird to me just in my opinion. There are many scammers out there and people will do anything for money. Are we sure the nephew didn’t plan all of this from the beginning and the girl who came foward maybe in on it too. The guy only got 20 years probably get out early. Maybe they all were promised money from the nephew? I think it’s very odd how the girl came foward and again in my opinion was acting like everything she was saying was scripted. I find it weird that she tried to make it clear she didn’t know the nephew. Very weird to me and the nephew seems like a guy that could pull this off. Plus the nephew failed a liar detector test right? I would like to see them all get a lie detector test. I don’t know something just seems off especially how the nephew first asked about the jewelry and he knew what she had in the house. Either way that poor lady was killed. Michael comes off as very conceited and loves the attention. Almost like he is trying to come out as he has no secrets and yes he parties etc. etc. He comes off as a man that is constantly talking. Feels like he would have more motive for her to be dead bc I’m sure he was compensated through her will when she died. He even said he’s always financially troubled. It’s odd that they don’t mention anything about her assets and where they went, unless I missed it, I’m working and listening to it. But seems like Michael had more motive and would benefit the most and paid the other two off. And possibly it was his best option to go to prison and try to get out early and then be compensated and is set. Michael is the clever one and knew to use alcohol or told him to use it. Maybe Michael didn’t physically do it not sure but feels like he was definitely involved. Michael says he doesnt remember what he said to deputy’s. He’s a pretty smart guy, he remembers. And somehow her car was stolen. I guess the killer knew where she kept her keys and had time to find them while murdering Linda and also starting a fire. I’m sure Michael knew the house very well and knew where she kept her keys. Again my opinion but I’m sure I can’t be the only one that has suspicions….then again I could be completely wrong but I guess it doesn’t matter either way poor Linda was murdered and her life was cut short.

A friend named Shannon Leshin was killed buy her ex-boyfriend in her home with her kids in the house and he only received 20 years. Yet there are drug dealers that sold marijuana back in the eighties and nineties who got sentenced to prison for 15 to 20 years everyday. I would really hope that Shannon's murderer Gary never gets out but unfortunately he's going to be up for parole in about 5 years. It disgusts me that he will walk the face of the Earth again as a free man.

I saw a show on Investigation Discovery about a kidnapper and victim took polygraphs and the victim was declared to be deceptive and the kidnapper was NOT deceptive. Turns out the police found more evidence that proved the victim was telling the truth. My takeaway is Never take a polygraph. It’s not admissible and has too much room for error. I’m not giving them any reason to arrest me for something I didn’t do.

It was a voluntary confession. He did not need to apologize whatsoever. He seemed ashamed. Not everyone is 100% evil. Sometimes people do bad things and can feel remorse over it. He said he was hearing voices in his head. That indicates he was not in his right mind. Not an excuse, but a picture of what was going on begins to be painted. He should have gotten more time in prison for taking an innocent woman’s life.

Which he totally didnt & they excluded him at a time he needed them. I can guarun-dam-tee you he would only have to ask her for money & he'd get it. I’m watching this in 2023 and I can’t think that this dude is still in prison. The only good thing is that this happened in Florida. If this had happened in my state and county of Los Angeles Ca, this guy would for sure be paroled. The girl who wrote this letter is a true hero. 20 yrs. doesn't sound like Justice for taking Lindas life. It's amazing how you can see persons on these videos getting life sentences for similar crimes. I know it has a lot to do with which state your in and probably how good your lawyer is. It is just upsetting that these sick people can look forward to strolling, down the street, enjoying new sunrises, after they permanently took the light away from someone else. God have mercy on us all. 😢

Because he agreed to a confession which the state didn't have enough evidence in my opinion for an air tight conviction. And he was smart to say he didn't "plan" to rob her, when he did.

Lie detector tests are completely unreliable. When I was a graduate student in college, I passed one one week (given by the CIA no less, during an interview process) and failed one the following week (given by my then employer) and it was on the SAME question: Do you use cocaine? (Which I have never used.)

They are malarkey . No one should ever take one . They gave my brother 3 of them , the third one lasted 2 hours !! They finally found a hint of deception and then they just knew he was guilty 😡. He was found innocent by a jury of peers in 47 minutes . But it destroyed him . He’s never been the same . He missed his wife’s funeral and his son unalived himself . And to top it off , the small town that the trial was in , they want a $180k for his court appointed attorneys and other expenses accrued
