Lol, I love "if you wanted to torture yourself, you could bring six kids with you"! 😂 That dark sky project building is new since I've been (it was about 12 years ago, to be fair!). I love Tekapo so much, there's definitely a serenity there. Went up when my daughter was 6, and I really wanted to do the night sky tour, but I didn't want the other adults to hate me for bringing a kid that might be grumpy with staying up late, so we didn't do it, but I wish I could share the picture we took on top of Mt John with me lifting her up, with her arms in the air and Lake Tekapo in the background (I'm sure you know the spot I mean!). I hope Charlotte was feeling well enough to see it. Thank you for another awesome video (and I didn't realise how long your hair is, Cory - so jealous, lol!). Love you guys! Plus the clouds pouring over the hills at the end was stunning (as was your night sky) - thank you - it was so, so beautiful and makes me want to go back ❤🤗

Aww thanks Trudi, those clouds at the end were amazing. Like a waterfall! I think it’s time you go back to Tekapo for a visit 😊 I bet the clear skies in winter would be just unbelievable!

Hi just FYI, no access to Mt. John at night either hike or car. You definitely need to book stargazing tour at Dark Sky Project as you mentioned. Cowans observatory is also belong to them and running tour. Hope you enjoyed staying there under a beautiful dark sky.

Hey guys. Always an awesome informative video as usual. Tekapo is beautiful, i didnt get to see the night sky but you got a nice time lapse - and the beautiful sunrise. Do you film all your time lapses (in particular the night time lapse) on your big vlogging camera ?
@cjexplores2 ай бұрын
Hi Lisa! Yeah, the night lapse is filmed on our GH5 by taking a series of long exposure images. But our main vlogging camera is now a small little DJI pocket 3. It’s so discrete and great quality.

@@cjexplores I had noticed your osmo in a few of your reels & if your now using that as your vlogging camera the videos still look the same ( might dust off my osmo 2 and give that a go )
@cjexplores2 ай бұрын
@@kiwilisaoutandabout1320 yes! The new Pocket 3 is fantastic!! Such a good little camera 😊

My wife and I are going this september, what camera equipment did you use/do you recommend to take pictures and video of the night sky? They turned out great!
@cjexploresАй бұрын
Awesome, great time of year to go. I used a LUMIX GH5 on a tripod to capture the stars. I also used our DJI Pocket 3 to create one of the Timelapse’s but it’s a bit more grainy than the GH5’s long exposures. I would only recommend taking your photography gear if you were interested in night photography or you just wanted to give it a go! ☺️

Sorry, Mate. That was an awful presentation of the stars over Tekapo. Back to Stars 101 for you. May I say it was more about yourself or am I being unkind?
