I'm sorry but this Trans Am has sold. We do have another 1985 Trans Am that is currently in the showroom in very comparable condition. www.rocksolidmotorsportsinc.com/vehicles/416/1985-pontiac-firebird-trans-am

Ohh don't slam the trunk. It's motor driven to suck down and you will jam the motor slamming it.

Yeah, I cringed when I watched him do that. Not once but twice. But it looks likes the pull down latch isn't working already in this video. Seems he had to slam it in order to get it to latch. It's most likely frozen in or close to full pull down position. There are nylon runners/spacers that run along tracks inside the mechanism and they get brittle over time in the heat, just like the top door sill covers did. Slamming it like that will break those nylon runner/spacers and once that happens, it's all sloppy and will have a lot of play in it. That was one of the first things the dealer told me not to do when I bought mine in 87'. The reason they designed the rear hatch back latch this way was to prevent the rear glass from getting broken out if something large is loaded into the rear and then the hatch back is slammed down hitting the object before it can close all the way down. Nice Trans Am though.
