When reaching the very end, is there a reason to slide all the way to the right side of the course? I would think going diagonally that far would slow you down a bit vs going more straight

Changing direction slows your speed enough that the slightly shorter distance isn't worth it.

Surprisingly hitting the right side is faster, you get diminishing returns turning to the left to straighten out.

Yessir - that was my thoughts. See he got a reletively low 59 here... and he didn't even hit 78 speed on the initial turn... so I have a feeling the real limit to this might be 57xxxx if you did it purely perfect. But who knows...

I was thinking that as well. I was in the low 50s but that was on Time Attack mode which removes all obstacles and gives you a "speed up" balloon.
