The Diamond Demon is a lovely, 49" wingspan, vintage plane from the late 1930's, designed by Jerry Stoloff, which was first kitted out in 1939 by the Bay Ridge Model Airplane & Supplies Co.
This is a build series that will take you step by step through the construction of the model, culminating in this maiden flight, and to be followed by a build & flight review. The finished aeroplane will be powered by a 1940's Bantam 19 ( • Bantam 19 Spark Igniti... ), an excellent spark ignition engine. The aeroplane will have 2 channel RC, elevator & Rudder.
The aeroplane is being build from a great set of plans from Ben Buckle Vintage Kits, UK - www.benbucklevintage.com/inde...
Ben Buckle also do the Diamon Demon in a kit - www.benbucklevintage.com/inde...

Just magnificent. I will follow this build series with a keen eye since I have a Bantam 19 too, and nothing seems to be more nostalgic than a contest winning plane with diamond-shaped fuselage... Apart from the "vested interest", I'd still religiously watch anything you build, so win-win.

Thank you very much for the kind comment, really pleased you enjoy the videos. This is an interesting design and great to build. I think the Bantam 19 is a really good match for the plane. Great to hear you have a Bantam, they are great engines.

Where are you getting your steel weights from? Every build I watch, you have more and i think "oohh, i must start looking for some of those" Another nice video Mark, thank you Cheers James

Hi James, the blocks are hugely useful, use them for so many different things. I had them cut from a steel bar and the ends milled square at a local machine shop. Definitely worth making. Thanks for the comment 😀

Hi mark recently found your channel And I'm loving your content . I'm returning to the hobby after being out of it for 9 years and one of the things I loved the most was Building my own planes obviously things have moved on in this time and I was wondering whether or not you could make a video going over the glues and materials you use to put your models together.

So there will be no throttle control?
@MarkRobinson555
@MarkRobinson555 Жыл бұрын
Correct, no throttle. These early vintage planes/ engines didn't have throttles, they were designed to fly to a height and then the engine would run out of fuel and you would then soar on thermals and gradually glide back down, so a little like powered gliders. They used to have competitions to see who could stay in the air the longest after a timed engine run. These days you could of course fit a different engine and fly it with a throttle. Hope that helps 😃
