This may be an unpopular opinion amongst niners fans, but I feel zero ill will towards Brandon Aiyuk with all this drama. Most players don’t get to a second contract. VERY few make it to a third. BA knows that this may be the only opportunity he gets to make generational money. I know these players make a lot of money regardless, but we need to understand as fans that as scary as it is for us, this contract decision may very well be the most impactful thing in BA’s entire life. Let’s have some patience.

I wonder about anyone who has a problem with someone attempting to negotiate what they think they are worth. Aiyuk has to place himself and his family first. "Fans" are weird and unreasonable.

What I don’t like is the drama. Salute to CMC and Jennings, especially Juice who took a pay cut. They kept quiet. Usually you create noise when you think your demands is a little over the top. You want support and pressure to the Teams from the fans.
@nnis754 ай бұрын
@3sha214 There isn't any drama. The drama is with the "fans." These are two parties negotiating a business deal. The entire world is built on negotiations. Why is it considered drama when it comes to the NFL? Wait. I know why. Because "fans" are emotional and make everything about feelings. Toughen up. It isn't your money, your team, or your business. Just make sure you tune in to games and buy jerseys, hats, and beer. That is your role in the entire so-called drama. You are a consumer. That is all.

When you consider targets to players no longer on the roster, there are minimally 40 targets for Pearsall. If we further looked at targets to Mitchell and Juszczyk, there are 25 more targets for Pearsall where the previous efficiency on those attempts was 5.3 yds/tgt. Finally, if a quarter of the targets to Conley and Jennings go to Pearsall, and we can project for Pearsall the averages of the Big 4 (Aiyuk, Samuel, Kittle, and CMC) we can project the following for Pearsall: 54 receptions on 75 targets for 778 yards. Assuming Purdy and the Big 4 repeat their 2023 performance, then the Big 4 + Pearsall delivers: 321 receptions on 442 targets for 4596 yards Compared to Purdy's production in 2023: 308 receptions on 444 targets for 4280 yards This assumes that with the new Big 5, Purdy maintains his average efficiency with 72% completions on 10 yds/att and 14 yds/comp. Purdy's completion percentage improves a few points with more attempts to Pearsall who converts targets to receptions at the same rate as the Big 4. Finally, if we extend the increased emphasis on the pass observed in the playoffs, we can project an additional 136 pass attempts in 2024. That leaves plenty of attempts for Jennings, Juszczyk, Conley, Mitchell, Guerendo, Cowing, Thomas and Willis. The veterans in that group were targeted 64 times in 2023. That leaves 72 targets to allocate to anyone. Based on 2023 production, Jennings and Thomas (and possibly Conley) would return the best production on those targets. Mitchell would produce the least on additional targets. Willis could take the targets that went to Woerner and Dwelley (5). Then getting the burners (Guerendo and Cowing) in the mix seems doable as well. Even without a significant improvement from Purdy, the array of weapons in 2024 seems unmatched by any previous edition of the 49ers...the Big 5 alone assures this. I assume the 49ers are minimally 7 deep (Big 5 + Jennings and Juszczyk) and reasonably 8 deep (Big 7 + Thomas). Too many weapons. It seems reasonable that if Guerendo can get on the field he is at least ready to impact the game as a receiver which makes 9 receiving weapons in total or 10 if either Cowing or Conley get opportunities from scrimmage. I would take this group over any other team in the league today and over the 1984 Dolphins, 1994 49ers, the 2001 Rams, or the 2011 Patriots. The non-strength of this team offensively seems to be power running, which is why I favor Mason over Mitchell. I understand Michell is RB2, but he is not available consistently, he had a bad year in 2023, and Mason is the better game closer who can limit CMC's wear and tear. I anticipate many 2+ score leads in the 4th quarter in 2024.

I'm feeling, so it's probably not close to happening, that Purdy will take less than what he's worth..to keep players.. alla Brady. He doesn't have a Gisele worth 400 million, but he seems like he wouldn't feel right taking that much. Im probably 💯 percent wrong, but hey...

Guy and Dave - thank you for your analysis - - I seriously think they did not address the areas like the O-Line and with injuries on the defensive side I predict a mediocre season ahead. They need to address how the head coach prepared for the Superbowl as well - - bad game plan and bad decisions.

49er fan here. Can anybody tell me why Brandon are you and Devo Samuel could not get open during the super bowl???
@TexasShaka5 ай бұрын
Dave, love your channel and respect you input on this team but bro, you had me lost at your comment @8:42. I recall how much you said the o-line was bad the o-line was past season. Just saying, like to see you stay on one side of the fence
@brettwheeler77535 ай бұрын
Bad???? The 49ers OL made the top 28 in pass protection!
@DavidLombardi5 ай бұрын
At no point during the video or the part you timestamped did I “change sides of the fence” or say the OL didn’t have issues. I’ve been consistent on this. What are you talking about?
@Jabadilla5 ай бұрын
Lombardi has always said the OL needs to improve...he backed up the 49ers for not signing a free agent because they would have over paid...he also backed up the 49ers for not drafting a lineman because all the good lineman was taken in the early part of the first round...

Superbowl showed a receiver separation issue that niners need someone like pearsall and cowling and actually throw to them to make them a threat on tape and nut just a bluff to just run a route to attempt to take the lid off or they will continue to load up short and mid sag like they showed in the Superbowl was a weakness
@karenhardie11325 ай бұрын
Yup, BA and Deebo could not get open. Spags has an elite defense too.
@brettwheeler77535 ай бұрын
WR has become the new fad position to get big $$$. In the 1990s and early 2000s, the RBs made money. Then CB was commanding ridiculous money (anybody remember Nate Clements), pass rushers, OTs, etc. The market will eventually reset, but there will be chaos until then. Let's hope that the 49ers don't cave. I wanted the 49ers to trade Aiyuk for a high draft pick and go get an OT. Tom Brady won multiple Super Bowls with WRs that have been forgotten by everyone except their WAGs.
@3sha2145 ай бұрын
I like Aiyuk and it’s a shame. I feel that Aiyuk and his camp know how to use the social media. He’s seeing the backlash of some fans saying if he wants top money then he can go. So now he’s saying he wants to stay, but saying is different than action. All I see is his camp hinting he wants to go right after SB, then putting that pic with the hair to another team and then in an interview saying “Money talks, BS walks”. Only person who does that is someone who thinks he’s not going to get what he wants. I didn’t hear anything from CMC and Jennings because it seems like they are in “good faith” working with the Niners. Seems like Aiyuk wants more than he’s worth and using Social medias help so they will blame the Niners. He needs to stop playing games and drama and work with the Niners.
@Jabadilla5 ай бұрын
It goes both ways...its business.
@3sha2145 ай бұрын
@@Jabadilla yeah but it’s not a good look when you want more money and creates drama and talk. The Niners wants to pay but limited by the cap. But Aiyuk wants money regardless. Even right after the SB loss. Then now he turns around and say he wants you to stay so fans will see he wants. He says he wants you to stay, he forgot to add, “if the price is right in his eyes”. if he wants to stay he would have signed by now. Even before JJ signing He wants 30Mil. I know he wants more money than Deebo (28+mil). But 30Mil? Thats more than double.. and of course he want guaranteed money. 49ers has a pattern of keeping and paying their good players, so I don’t have any doubt that they want to pay what’s fair for BA. And they are thinking of Brock too. BA just needs to be realistic. If teams have salary caps players should too..
@JakeTheSnake5005 ай бұрын
Aiyuk's agent finally had the epiphany that even his biggest fans were starting to turn against him. So they put out a kumbaya statement, which basically said he loves the Bay Area and is almost as fast as Rugg III, who is now busy cleaning the NV Governor's Mansion.
@D24Vid5 ай бұрын
Seems ridiculous now how 49ers have to do business with the players they draft, develop and provide the opportunity to obtain generational wealth and fame. The Deebo's and Aiyuks disrespect the people that made them, with their B.S. social media.
@josephrapelje46705 ай бұрын
Go back and watch the 49ers play the ravens again. The rushing yards were boosted by CMC having multiple explosive runs, I a few drives. That game Kyle didn’t abandon the pass. Not after all the “interceptions, not after all the injuries to the O line, not even when Sam darnold came in for Purdy. Kyle is putting the ball in purses hands and will end up using the run off of the pass game.

Dave has Aiyuk contract paying him $50M year in '27 and '28? Purdy's cap hit $60M. Not a good plan. Erase Aiyuk from future and draft WR's
