This comeback win in Pontiac really saved the 49ers season. At 3-2 and coming of an embarrassing 40-8 thrashing at home to Philadelphia, the 49ers fell behind by 14 before righting the ship and pulling out a very hard fought 27-21 win. This was the start of an incredible roll that would see the 49ers win 13 out of their last 14 games leading them to a 5th Lombardi Trophy in Miami.

Niners probably would have made it 14 in a row to close the season, but that last game vs the vikings was meaningless as they had secured the #1 seed a week earlier vs broncos. Memorable season indeed.

Love this era and the Niner team we had. Deion Sanders was the cherry on top with the best off season signing to get us over the top. Best defense in the league and our offense was unstoppable. 30 years ago, time flies. Bang Bang Niner Gang!

Me too, I'm a Niner fan that grew up and still lives on Lions' territory. Lions are my second favorite team though and I would've been happy for them had they won the NFC this year BUT they didn't finish the game.

If you were a 49er fan, then congratulations on being there at the pivotal moment of the greatest single season turnaround in NFL history. This may not have been the best 49ers team (although you can make a good argument for at least the offense being the best they've had), but it is certainly my favorite.

This 49er offense was a nuclear absurdity. Even back then, fullbacks were for blocking and sparingly used in short yardage. William Floyd could run like Jerome Bettis and catch out of the backfield like Ricky Watters.
