Thanks for this video I like shots from your location. In another video at this location I could not get over how close the trains are when tracks are busy. I appreciate your work a great deal.

I enjoy all of your videos and especially the ones you shot in Birmingham. The former L&N station looks a lot shabbier than when I visited in 1975. At that point I took the Floridian North from Tampa and transferred over to the old Southern Station to continue my trip to Atlanta and NYC. As I am a railfan especially Passenger, I hear they are refurbishing the L&N station currently. I guess the original building was torn down and they are now building an intermodal style station. Will they repair the shabby train sheds? Also could you do some videos around the track area of the passenger station so I could see what it looks like today? Could you show more passenger stuff on your great videos? Thank you so much for your great videos, Charles

Thank you for sharing your experience. I enjoy hearing these stories from places I visited. I just spent a couple days in B'ham and am not really familiar with future plans of passenger services there. I have a recent video on Amtrak 19 and 20 on my channel ("45 Years of Amtrak..."), but otherwise there isn't much passenger train traffic in the southeast that I could show. I have been to Germany and covered their high-speed passenger trains in some videos (in the German Railroads playlist on my channel). Thanks again!

what bridge were u on address wise or street wise or is the Amtrak station a better spot and how many freights could I see in an hour and a half there.
@mbmars017 жыл бұрын
The bridges near the station are great spots and the crossing at 32nd St. I haven't been on the station so I can't tell. You should see about 3-4 trains in 90 minutes I'd guess.

Have you moved to AL permanently? Miss seeing around the Abbieville Sub
@mbmars018 жыл бұрын
No, I just visited AL. I traveled some in the past months and didn't have much time to railfan the Abbeville recently.

Is that the beginning of the S&NA CSX line next to the Amtrak station?
@vonmazur18 жыл бұрын
That is the CSX, whether it is the beginning of the S&NA, I do not know for sure...
@mbmars018 жыл бұрын
No, the line that diverges technically still belongs to the CSX Boyles Terminal Subdivision. The Amtrak station and the interlocking with NS are at about milepost MP 392. The S&NA South begins 5 miles away at MP 397 at a station called Graces.

What is the CSX yard like down there.
@mbmars016 жыл бұрын
It's called Boyles Yard and relatively busy. I didn't see much of it, because it's somewhat "hidden in the woods", though.

I know, it's sad but passenger trains are not a great deal in American railroading anymore (with few exceptions in some corridors). Things might change, but construction costs are so high that it's not very likely the US will return to (re-)building an extensive high-speed network.

We were at the same bridge we were waiting for a few trains to come and a csx local train came as it was going under us the train engineer blew his horn and scare the daylights out of mommy good she was not expecting that

Very cool! Glad you caught some action during your visit. I hope your mom has recovered from the scary horn :)
