The 2 female wizards battle is absolutely epic. She is not only a good singer, the use of imagery in her content is just sublime.
@therealitycollective9456 Жыл бұрын
I feel something different from this. Not a battle. More like dancing together in an act of creation. From what I read the actress in white is actually aldous's birth mother in real life. I think the video shows the mother raising aldous with white Magick to make the world a better place. Aldous expresses making the world a better place whilst wielding the power of humanity's repressed shadows. The video to me is an expression of yin yang concepts. But this kind of video is obviously open to interpretation so who knows.

*LYRICS:* Let me put the water in the bowl For your wounds, babe Let me fill you up with the fingers of love You can’t lose babe When you watch me play, does it feel bad, darlin’ When they choose me? Say again, this place Say again, this place I broke my neck Dancing to the edge of the world, babe My mouth is wet, don’t you forget it Don’t you lose me Here is your princess And here is your horizon Here is your princess And here is your horizon I’ve gotta scratch it down, I never could amount That’s it, babe And now the sugar’s run out And I don’t know what to say Say again, this place Say again, this place Here is your princess And here is your horizon Here is your princess And here is your horizon And every now and then, I think about When you’ll die, babe There’s a fall in my head It floods what you said into the room, babe I don’t belong in the desert Yes, I can see it, take me home, babe Say again, this place Say again, this place Here is your princess And here is your horizon Here is your princess And here is your horizon Here is your princess And here is your horizon Here is your princess And here is your horizon

I don;t comment on much. I don't listen to much right through. I listened to this. I am commenting. This is art. Fucking great. She challenges expectations of normal, acceptable and beautiful with her lyrics, appearance, emotional intensity and surprise, her arrangements and of course her voice. This inspires me to stretch myself and stop trying so hard to fit into a box. The mainstream is so bloody narrow at times and it takes something like this to push the boundaries, meet some resistance and make our perspectives a little wider. Of course if something is too far out and/or just plain BAD it will have no influence at all. So she has succeeded in catching the edge of the mainstream with what for me is a beautiful and powerful artwork, visually and musically.

You will also like Laura Nyro, the Bronx genius who created gothic, dark pop in the late 1960's. Nyro is Rock Hall of Fame, Songwriters Hall of Fame, only second to Bob Dylan as the most influential singer/songwriter in contemporary music. Try her 'You Don't Love Me When I Cry' (1969), very powerful and intense. Nyro was a musical force of nature, an absolute genius. Her 'December's Boudoir' (1968) is just bewildering.

This is beautiful! That woman in black (Aldous) is the ever present specter of pain and chaos within the woman in white. The woman in white is white because she is able to ward the chaos off with hard work and routine. Which is represented by the meditative like motions. Even though the woman in white moves flawlessly, the chaos is eternally waiting on the sidelines, eager to pull her away. I guess i see the message as pain and catastrophe can never be banished entirely and we have to do our best to live with it.

Stumble.Stop.Repeat I love this song but at the same time, I can say that you are absolutely right, especially in your last paragraph. Too often people seem to connect their identity to their taste and get offended when someone doesn't agree with their own preferences, it becomes a threat. What does it matter if someone across the globe doesn't see the something the same way as I do? It doesn't cheapen or devalue my own experience. Rather, the mature way is to listen differing voices and still be able to stay rational, appreciating the fact the world is full of tastes and it's not a threat to ones own. My identity is not shaken by the fact that what I like, some other might see as pile of stinky doo doo. But KZbin comment section is the place for quick kneejerk reactions, step right up and get yours right here. And I'm not saying that as to be snarky- I think the format of communication online in places such as this fuels that kind of confrontational and bit simplistic communication.
@MichaelPohoreski5 жыл бұрын
jane stradwick **Facepalm** What the fuck do you think song covers are??? Because there are infinite ways to express emotion through music. 1. Some artists SUCK and a cover is 100% better then the original. (e.g. Jimi Hendrix's _All Along The Watchtower_ by because Bob Dylan can't sing worth a shit.) 2. Other times a cover is _just_ as good but in a DIFFERENT way then the original. (i.e. A lot of Leonard Cohen _Hallelejuh_ covers) 3. And sometimes the covers suck (99% of the time.) Not every artist is as insecure as you else "Weird Al" Yankovic would be out of an job.
