"I've never heard an Aldous Harding song," Aldous Harding. What a perfect answer. As the creator the way the song sounds and feels to her is entirely different than what it could mean to anyone else. She's got all the background and story to the song, the experience of crafting, trimming, killings bits of it along the way. All of that experience and time spent personally locked up with it to flesh it out? I can well imagine that Aldous Harding has never heard her songs the way her fans hear them, mores the shame. yea beyond human... not possible there. She's sweet but rough, she looks so wavering as she talks and yet she appears very confident and self-assured as she sings. I had the chance to listen to her in Bologna, Italy on November 15. She was not 'public friendly' at all, she played for about an hour, but I can say it was for me an astounding experience, she is so charismatic without any intention to be, she is shy but her music and texts speak always openly for her. I think she's one of the most interesting songwriters of the decade, she is original and yet classic. I think she's a very deep artist and I look forward to hearing her next pieces.

She really seems to enjoys when people get her clown persona. It's such a relief to see a musician act like an artist where you can also witness the philosophical perspective flow as part of the entire tearing down of and creating reality. Her utter honesty feels eccentric & that's quite a statement as an artist to make- that getting to the root of your own being is so unacceptable. Forever in love w her. @@michaelscheltema2101 that's not necessarily a bad thing: I'd rather live without culture and in complete connection to my fellow human being than otherwise. I know, because of the internet there are people like me in Russia, Nepal, Ghana or the US. Culturally, depending on my upbringing, I might despise certain other cultures. With the internet, regardless of my culture I find reasons to bond with others. Like you and me over this beautiful music. I don't care about your color or if your ancestors killed mine. I care to agree it's a miracle the internet brought us this piece of art and we had in common good taste to appreciate it.

Made me laugh so much the comment about some guy with a camera just goes out and films her in her natural habitat. She is truly a diamond! Love her ways so much.

It makes me so happy that someone like Aldous exists in the world and that our society has not degenerated to the point that we've stopped giving her and others like her (like her? what does that mean?) a platform to share that with us.

Marx said more or less what you alude to speaking about dear friend German poet Heine:”It is no exaggeration to say that Mohr [Marx's nickname] not only admired Heine as a poet, but had a sincere affection for him. He would even make all sorts of excuses for Heine's political vagaries. Poets, Mohr explained, were queer kittle-cattle, not to be judged by the ordinary or even extra-ordinary standards of conduct...”

Wonder if she means 'big t' Truth. Nobody has a lock on that; something that is TRUE for everybody. You can speak to your own honesty, but that is subject to change, as it should be.

This is stunning. And I hadn't noticed before how Aldous and Richard Ashcroft have strikingly similar angular beauty in their facial symmetry and mannerisms.

Very sympathetic interviewer. I don't think I have ever seen anyone try so earnestly to be honest -with every question they are asked- as Aldous Harding.

I love the way Cheryl peels back the layers to try and unearth the complexities of Aldous mindset and musical talent.....like most of us, Cheryl has been taken on a musical journey but wants credence to solidify her own dreams on that journey.....if that makes sense, it's how I interpreted the interview. Just found that she is playing in London on 20th May....can't wait.
