Sounds great, I love the sound of a clean Toyota. Sounds like a Rotary engine when you rev it. Low at low RPM's, then louder when you put your foot down.

@Nolanator6 Yea the swap is pretty common. The engine comes from a FWD car, and the engine sits horizontally. Putting this engine into a AE86 hatch is a pain becuz the Distributor sticks out too far on the side. So putting it into the AE86 vertically the distributor would be hitting the Bulk head. Unless you get a converter, which is pretty expensive. And the job is a pain in the ass. Most ppl take the short cut and band the bulk head but i wouldn't suggest doing that.

i just swapped mine,,,,4age blacktop with some mods on my ae86 liftback and trust me you can get really surprised because the engine looks weak but the sound is really amazing so the power.

@dannythebmxer Blacktop is 20V producing 170hp. Early redtop versions (black and red lettering) have T-VIS and produce 125hp. Late redtops have STB and produce around 135~140hp I think. Redtops are 16V

The 4age 20v (both silvertop and blacktop) are FWD engines out of Corollas. Many people put them in the AE86 though. I think you have to change the distributor and intake but I may be wrong. You don't have to change the 'drive' or anything.

the MR2 has the engine in the rear remember.... so it's set up for FWD or at least having the drive wheel right under the motor, you'd have to find a transmission that will fit correctly if you want to use the 20v in a FR car.

LeCoureurDesBois It’s the VVTi gear. They’re distinctive. Toyota did them a certain way for a long time and both this engine and the 2J are both from that era, makes people think they’re the same even though the head layout and valve configuration are different

Bor con lay...this is in answer to your question, ke 20 and ke30 are just about the same to look at Except the ke 20 was a bit smaller ,back in the day I had about 10or12 then they were easy to get because There was more of them about, you could also get ke 30 estate like people in us would call station wagon .And you would have no problems Interchanging any parts.

@melayu43 yes, vtec engines are great and got real power but this 4AGE setup is unique and built according to the owner. so don't compare, it was built for his enjoyment and driving needs... go sulk in your vtec, we toyota and 4AGE lovers don't care about vtec... btw, i do have an EG hatch with D15B.. but before that I already planned for my project KP61 4AGE 20v blacktop ITB setup... :)

Why is it blowing smoke inside your engine at first, i thought your exhaust wasn't connected, but then i seen a clip from the back an exhaust was connected, so it looks like you've got a leak in your exhaust somewhere new near your manifold.
