It's crazy. I was listening to this stuff when it was new, and it was so fresh and exciting, but eventually became dated like everything else does. Now it sound fresh and exciting again wtf?

i think a lot of us born during or after the genre were exposed to it so much through like toonami and like a hundred video games on half a dozen consoles when so young that it both is nostalgic in addition to just sounding nostalgic- and yet it still sounds like the future because of that pairing of being young and it having to do with sci-fi typically, etc

it's funny how people's perceptions of music differ. to me, this sound is divorced from the frantic nature of life today with technology being a crazy part of our life. This sounds futuristic and hopeful to me. peaceful.
@andrealves3104
@andrealves3104 2 жыл бұрын
@@HOBOsnake I do feel similar about the way you do about this piece of music. For me, maybe it has to do with the optmistic vibe people had about the rise of hi-speed internet back in those days (late 90s/early 00s). We used to dream about a world where big corps had less power/influence over the masses due to general freedom of access to information , thus giving better opportunity for independent art and more civilized governments to rise. So yeah, maybe a listener today feels totally different about these tracks, but for me, it kinda pictures a wishful future that has never been, but once was inteded to be. And it forms a beautiful and sweet image, worth aprecciating.

This sounds like the future, a beautiful, future that hasn’t happened yet. When I listen to jungle I imagine a technologically advanced humanity that has achieved perfect balance with the earth and the natural world. I still think that it’s our destiny to make that beautiful future happen.

@@jasminebrown9973 preaching to the choir. I’m Comanche and have been screaming to general public for years. My ancestors were very healthy, tall, and lived long lives, child mortality was low. The violence between tribes was hindered due to how risky it was to outright go to war (too many people could die). Our lives revolves around hunting and enjoying our families. I love technology, I think western values are good, but we need to be contemplating ways to incorporate more indigenous American norms.

Ambient D&B/Jungle from the mid-late 90's has so much elegance and beauty. It reminds of a more personal time when humans connected on a deeper level, pre-smartphones and social media. Raving truly brought people together, as did the ecstacy :)

Before even knowing who nookie even was, around this year (2022) KZbin recommended me this video near the end of April (Smooth: New Dimensions In Ambient Jungle (1998, Full Album) (it might have been in late April, idk it's been a few months) upon listening for a few sec, that was one of the most fresh albums and new genre I ever listened to. then around the time when may was arriving or so, (or in early may not sure) a few days or week later KZbin recommended me the first ever DNB album after that (Atmosphere Chapter 2 - Deeper Drum And Bass (2007). That album I would say is one of the most underrated ones of yet, still more to come through may and June. after that I found (Strictly Digital presents... Atmosphere Chapter 1 - Deeper Drum and Bass) and that one was also underrated album. then finding chapter 3 (only listening to it half way) then later on finding another album called (Total Science Volume 2 (1996), that album was awesome not like underrated but, an awesome album to listen to. then being able to listen to (Atmosphere Chapter 3 - Deeper Drum And Bass (2012) and my god that album is very underrated with 2 tracks in them (Plain Dialogue - Cala Pira) and (Alexus - Magic) beautiful tracks, and some other tracks from that album as well. don't get me wrong on the best tracks, almost every song in though albums are the best. Then going onto (Total Science Volume 1 (1995) that album was somewhat ok/good not the best album, then moving onto (Total Science Volume 3 (CD 1) (1997). a very/pretty good album I would say. as a new month began (June) I Then moving onto (Atmosphere Chapter 4 - Deeper Drum And Bass (2013) and that album is underrated one as well (Chapter 3 is by far the best on my list, the other ones are good but, chapter 3 is the best of the best). at the same time I start to learn/know who nookie really was and I got to say that the way he's mixed the tracks from (chapter 1), (Chapter 2), (Chapter 3), (Chapter 4), (Chapter 5) it's awesome to know that without him or his talent, chances are most likely channels like (4AM Breaks) or (Ambiance) wouldn't find these awesome/beautiful albums. then (Atmosphere Chapter 5 - Deeper Drum & Bass (Strictly Digital presents...) [2014]) which is a good album. as of writing this one (6/16/22 at: 5:40 PM) I enjoyed these albums through out may and June. thanks to nookie for the releases of these album and some of his songs he made in some of these albums. Fav Albums from first to last Album 1: (Atmosphere Chapter 3 - Deeper Drum And Bass (2012) - (Most Fav) Album 2: Atmosphere Chapter 2 - Deeper Drum And Bass (2007) Album 3: Strictly Digital presents... Atmosphere Chapter 1 - Deeper Drum and Bass (2005) Album 4: Atmosphere Chapter 4 - Deeper Drum And Bass (2013) Album 5: Total Science Volume 2 (1996) Album 6: Smooth: New Dimensions In Ambient Jungle (1998, Full Album) Album 7: Total Science Volume 3 (CD 1) (1997) Last Album 8: Atmosphere Chapter 5 - Deeper Drum & Bass (Strictly Digital presents...) [2014] The End. also yes this may feel like a spammed comment (and no that isn't the point of doing that, the point being is just to say how good these DNB albums really are and that you should listen them in fully if your into DNB or not. everyone's different in terms of how DNB sound to different people.)

Check this out, classic old school jungle mix: kzbin.info/www/bejne/lWPZmYKVp8-pfNE I do also like the spacier stuff all the way through modern drum and bass though. The way they cut up the drums on the classic jungle tracks is wild. A dude on youtube lately has vids up where he brings up tracks on his old school sampler and computer to show how it's made.

i was born in the summer of 98 and yet, i do remember this type of music being popular into kindergarten. why does this sound so futuristic still?

It was only last year that I found out this music is called "jungle". There was this game I grew up playing on the Gamecube called' "Lost Kingdoms" and I always liked the spacy ambient type music in the levels (it was a card rpg type game but it had a mix of fantasy music with techno type lol) Games from the late 90s and early 2000s seemed to have spacy type music like this anyways. Age of Empires the Age of Kings has also similar sounds mixed with medieval feel. I've become big fan of jungle now!!!
