Has anyone ever used authentic African Black Soap to clean their hair and scalp?

Hey, I appreciate this video. I stopped using this shampoo when I realized that it didn’t have any African black soap in the product. I was disappointed that the brand wasn’t being truthful about the shampoo. But it is still up to the consumer to make a educated decision before making a purchase with these products.

These brands are out to make $$$ and will use most means to mislead us consumers.

This was a very informative video. I use pure African Black soap to clean my hair and I have to add a bit of glycerin and oils so that it doesn’t overly strip my hair. I also add a splash of vinegar to balance the pH. It’s a great cleanser. Been using it for years. I don’t buy products and make my own.

Thanks for sharing. I have glycerin on my shelf, but I have been too "lazy" to make any homemade products. Glycerin is really viscous and takes talent to use to make homemade products; thus you are talented! 🥰

I appreciate your reviews and I really pay attention to ingredients now and I agree be honest about the product and do not give an appearance of misleading.

Thanks so much! Most of these products use the same ingredients because they are inexpensive and known to perform. We have to remember these products are mass produced.

Do you have any recommendations on a good shampoo that’s affordable but gets the job done. I’ve been using the brand Shescentit and Curlorigin. Can you do a product breakdown of those brands?

I have been loving Twist it Up shampoo and conditioner. It’s Black owned and the ingredients are amazing. I never have to pre poo anymore because the shampoo detangles my hair like a dream. Check out Bianca Renee review too.

This a good basic gentle cleansing shampoo. The name is misleading. Decyl Glucoside is a common cleansing agent in many different products. Most likely, Whitney White hired a manufacturer, like most clients, who want to create a brand, and the manufacturer provided an already existing formula and customized the label to make MELANIN look different from other brands using the same formula but giving the product a different name. I looked up the Curl Origin's Apple Nectar & Rosemary Follicle Boost Shampoo and briefly looked at the ingredients label. the first two ingredients after water are Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract and Alkyl Polyglucosides. Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract is not a cleanser. The Alkyl Polyglucosides is the cleansing surfactant combined with the Cocomidopropyl Betaine, which is the 4th listed ingredient. Curl Origin's honey & hibiscus balancing shampoo, on the ingredients label the first two ingredients after water are Hibiscus Sabdariffa Extract and Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice. Neither one are cleansing agents. The third listed ingredient, PEG 80 Sorbitan Laurate is the cleansing agent combined with the 4th listed ingredient Cocomidopropyl Betaine, which is a cleansing surfactant too . I look forward to doing a detailed breakdown of both brands. Stay tune! 😊

Tried this before I watched the video. This dried my hair out so bad and somehow still didn’t clean my scalp thoroughly. I had to wash my hair after and deep condition twice

I'm sorry to hear that the shampoo dried your hair out. The first four ingredients in its formula, after water, are cleansing agents, which means it is primarily designed to clean hair. It's important to use a conditioner after shampooing to prevent dryness and brittleness. With so many shampoos available on the market, did you find one that you liked?

@ still on the lookout! Idk I wouldn’t have minded the dryness if it had actually cleaned my scalp afterwards lol. That’s why I didn’t like it. It dried my hair and it didn’t thoroughly clean my scalp. Still trying to figure out how that happened 🤔 lol. I’m going to try kinky curly come clean next!

It's so upsetting to see this on ingredients. I'm really working on making my own brand.

You can do it! But be aware if you sell in mass production, there are a lot rules & regulations you must comply with set by the FDA, if selling in the US. The FDA is not as strict as some other countries. Also, it's much more expensive to use high end ingredients that you must pass onto the consumer, if you want to make a profit. Most of the KEY INGREDIENTS are cheaper and do the same job as natural ingredients. You will be given this advice by any cosmetic chemist and/or manufacturer you choose to produce your product. Good luck on your brand!
