Fun fact: Comet doesn't target with his abilities because you'd have to target something when you activate his ability, but because you can't know which effect you'll get when activating it, all of them simply don't target.

That's what the somewhat new reflexive targetting is for. They could have made it work like that.

@34:00, Nelson forgets about key text on Questing Beast (which is fair, the card is THE meme for too many words). Questing beast has ability that combat damage that would be dealt by creatures you control can't be prevented. So questing beast would actually have been a great answer to the One Ring trigger. Kind of surprised Wheeler didn't remind him then or after the game.

I say this all the time. The card doesn't have too many words. It just has abilities that often are either irrelevant or exactly counter specific situations. Like people constantly seem to think it has abilities that generate card advantage or protect itself when it has neither.

Ooooh I thought TOR just stopped attacks as a whole, not prevented damage. But looking it up, it sure does just literally "prevent damage". Very interesting!

I actually think Nelson might have just thought Comet was a better play - it's not like QB would have been lethal and Comet is a lot harder to deal with so might be more likely to kill over 2 turns through some amount of interaction. I could be wrong but I'd be surprised if he didn't know the interaction because QB and Stomp specifically are so often mentioned as ways to get around the Ring trigger.

Hi, North 100 showdown stats guy here again. Wheeler let Nelson win the die roll today, bringing Nelson's die roll rating up to 29% and dropping Wheeler's rating back to 69%. [OUTCOME SPOILERS] Wheeler won the match on the draw, bringing his win% on the draw to 57% and his overall win% to 71%. Nelson still has yet to win a match on the play, leaving his overall win% at 14% (Edited for spelling)

26:25 I'm not an expert but I'd have kept the brainstorm/fetch on top, so next turn I could cast brainstorm, trigger Aragorn to dig 1 more card deep (scry 2 but I know one of them), then resolve brainstorm to dig 3 more cards and have the fetch if I don't find an answer.
