Titanfall 2: Advanced Legion Tricks and Tips!

I personally love legion. My only problem though is that for some reason i get a game ruining response delay. Could anyone help or offer advice to stop this? I have an Athlon X4 860k Processor GTX 1070 Video Card, 8GB DDR3-1866 RAM, A88X-PRO MOBO, and i have the game on my 2.5" SSD.

BaconX12 you mean you are having some lag time between when you move your mouse and when the game responds? If it's an input lag issue you'll notice that when aiming with your mouse the result is that it feels "spongy". Generally speaking the most common cause of input lag is a game being too demanding for your system. Usually this boils down to the graphics card being overtaxed. The first thing to try would be to disable vsync (vertical sync) as this is notorious for causing input lag. Disabling depth of field blur, ambient occlusion and other similar effects can go a long way towards lightening the load on your gpu. Also, anti-aliasing in many of its forms can be extremely taxing, so turning this down is worth trying as well. Since you seem to be experiencing the problem only when online there's a few things you should check. Go to "testmy.Net" and run a combined upload/download test and make sure you have around 4mbps of upload speed. Also, and this goes for all online games, wireless is a no-no. Whenever possible you need to have a wired connection between your pc and your router. Lag is inevitable when gaming over WiFi and in a fast paced game like titanfall 2, it could certainly be problematic enough to ruin the experience. Also, make sure you have updated your video drivers as well.

*I found a method of dealing with tones shield that actually works rather well if everything is set up right.* Situation being that Tone likes to hide in corners and hit you from a distance, spamming the shit out of his tracking rockets, and this punishes legion due to how much damage the tone's particle wall can handle as well as how long it lasts. With that, this is my method of handling the situation. First of all, you must have (or almost have) your dash ready, and you must have your gun shield ready. Charge it... Just charge at the tone hiding in his corner, WHILE reloading your weapon (if you're clip is full, fire a round off to allow for reloading) AND activating your Gun Shield. Reloading is crucial to the strategy, because while gun shield is activated, Legion cannot run. Reloading removes this restriction. Once you've reached the tone, try to get on the other side of his shield, as I've noticed tones WILL panic and try to get away from you, leaving you free to take advantage of whatever time is left on Tone's own particle wall while you lay into the tone with everything you got. Warning: if you don't use the gun shield, Tone's spam tactic is going to fill his core by the time you reach him. Whether this works or not is also dependent on exactly how far tone is when she lays down her particle wall. (I would say the close range damage drop-off distance is the limit) (Bear in mind, i'm NOT Guaranteeing you that this will work, but it has allowed me to 1v1 slaughter corner-camping Tones many times, the damage taken being rather disregardable.) With that... I hope this helps a few of the other Legion Mains out there, whoever you might be.

Some thought was put into this. A couple of holes however. 1. Tone can bypass gun shield with both 40mm shots and salvos, ,meaning she can still out DPS legion. And then her wall comes back. And she was core. Or it goes back to square 1 of legion not really being able to out DPS tone. 2. A good tone player will space you so well that you'll never get this close. "Corner camping tone", again, no tone that actually plays like a competitive tone will do that. A good tone will manage her wall cooldown by being behind cover or changing positions to avoid getting punished by legion when her wall is down and then either hold for when legion pushes or hold a power position and burst him down, which legion is quite vulnerable to, due to the fact that not unlike particle wall, his only defense is tied to a cooldown, making it easy to go for poke damage. And for tone that means locks, which means salvos.

why so complicated? just press Q, and while your core is preparing to fire, dash out of the corner and hit that mofo with a long range mode. Then just walk back to the corner. -1 health bar on the poor enemy. And NO damage dealt to you. This is a tactic similar to what northstar snipers do, but in fact Legion is better bcs he can tank on short distances, too. And to be honest, good tone pilots are not much into camping near corners. It's a mid-range titan. They love to suddenly appear next to you, almost like ronins. And hit you with their rockets. They only start to hang near corners if they see they can't walk out of it bcs of you, constantly firing them, or your team mates

Legion is the odd bully kid in a world where the AGGRESSIVE SUSTAINED COUNTERFIRE is just not a thing, except for him. He WILL ruin your day, he will wreck you and your titan, your team and even the dropship too. I seriously enjoy pumping the extended mag into an enemy, who is trying to play the wait game, to wait until my bullets run out. But there goes the Smart core, and the true force feeding of the enemy has just begun. Oh, and a pro tip: crouch when you use the Gun Shield. It reduces the area of exposed chassis, as normally the shield does not cover your feet and left shoulder.

So many times I've beaten a legion by popping out them immediately vortex shielding, throwing their ammo back and ducking back into cover. I take no damage, they lose ammo and hurt themselves. Bonus points for bopping a laser shot on him when he goes to reload.

The cqc power shot got updated. Now it will deal full damage to anything inside the aim if its around 1/2 of the max distance. Like, it can be 3 titans and all of them will get the full damage. Also, he got a base dash. Legion is a good bait/support/defender titan in long range mode. Firing alongside a friendly titan will not only attract the fire to you, which you can then block with gun shield but you will also wreck them with the extra damage.

Yay another person who gets it. I love Legion and I personally feel like Overcore is better than Dash (now that it's fixed). Every time I try to communicate this with other people they don't seem to get it, but you summed it up very well at the end with Legion being a nightmare to fight and that lots of people just try to leave and turn their backs while you tear them up. I love Legion and Ronin because they are the scariest titans to go up against IMO and often times leads people into thinking that they need to run away to beat them, and I love abusing that mindset so many people seem to have around them. Ronin and Legion are really good at pissing people off and doing pretty catastrophic damage under the right circumstances.

AN: For the public players of titanfall 2, mastering a titan was too early. For competitive players however, a different world. The past year i've been studying, learning and applying competitive strategy, tactics and technique for titans. Welcome to the actual advanced guide with updates/corrections: 1. We all know that legion and scorch both have a base dash these days. But just in case. There wasn't really much that was wrong about this video. But it isn't an advanced guide. An advanced guide would tell you how to stall your power shot animation (if your gun isn't spun up, activate your power shot, whilst your gun is being brought up you'll tap the fire button once, this will stall the animation of your power shot giving you time to dash/walk around a corner or readjust your aim if your target moves erratically), crouch to remove your left foot being exposed, good against other legions and any poke damage titan such as northstar or ion. Whenever playing a legion, run a higher sensitivity (5 hip fire, 7-8 ads, or 7-8 on both), this allows you to counteract stuns from monarch or Ronin much easier as well as 180 power shot, good against ion, scorch, and ronin who can block/phase to avoid your power shot. When facing a ronin, quickly look up with your gun shield when the ronin throws an arc wave to allow it to take incoming shotgun shots instead. You take 1000 damage you would've taken anyway, but you avoid 800x4 from the leadwall. If you want to play the best titan in the game, play stryder with a predator cannon. Lightweight alloys + turbo engine.You'll move so fast the enemy won't even see you. You can move across the map in mere seconds. Outpace even the fastest pilot! You say lightweight alloys is bad, wait until a scorch is in your face with his thermal shield and you can walk away and shoot him at the same time at a faster pace than he could ever imagine!! A good technique to punish enemy ion's is "dash power shot." It's what it sounds like, activate your power shot behind cover and then dash out and smack the ion, they can't vortex that in time due to the 1.5s vortex latency, even if it looks like it's activate, for a short window it won't be. Legion isn't the ultimate predator. Too fat and too loud. He is however the titan with the best quick punish ability in the game. Power shot. It's instant. If a titan peeks, *BOOM* A bar of health (almost is gone) Note: This isn't as fleshed out as i would like it to be because the rest of legion's tech is match up based. Which would require an entire page more with a demonstrative video. Dinosaurd123 actually has a legion mechanics guide that covers more titan match up specific stuff. How to better deal with ion's for example. 1. Splash damage for 1800 damage from your long range power shots when she is holding vortex. Dash power shot as i mentioned earlier as well as 180 power shot. Another thing you can do is dash at an angle, roughly 45 degrees to the side of the ion and power shot them there, it's risky. But the vortex only covers a cone in front of ion, not from the sides.

If you don't switch mode, I would stick with the long range version simply because you will be effective at all ranges. You still dish out 2100 damage per second with critical, but only for 3.5 seconds. It is still an impressive amount, combine that with power shot or extended magazine and that's approximately 10,500 damage in 4.5 seconds. That being said, learning to mode switch is very helpful up close.

You left out the extra battery. You get a shield and 50% charge on your core with a couple powershots or spamming the npc's legion is at full charge quickly. You know your doing it right when everybody shifts immediate fire your way. Ronin is your best friend, when they run after you its a death sentence that also quickly maxes your core. I rarely die to them and because they are a cult favorite youll always have a quick core charge. But dont make the same mistake I did when trying to stack the 35% core charge onto the extra battery, the game glitches and will only give you 35% on the extra battery. Hands down my favorite titan.

If I could make one change to Legion, I would affect his minigun. The change works like this: No more switching fire modes. He is always in CQC mode, but with long range accuracy. This means Legion's predator cannon is now super accurate at all times. You still have access to the power shot to push enemies away if they get too close. I'm unsure what would replace mode switch, so please let me know your ideas.

Yes, and there are some key differences you may want to know as well. Short Range: A shotgun blast that'll knock back any Titans hit by it. This is also useful for pesky pilots jumping around you since they just need to be in the center-ish area of your crosshair to be hit (and instantly killed). Long Range: Just a simple long range blast with some splash damage. Useful for hitting pilots behind walls since, well, splash damage. Otherwise, it's just good for getting a reliable critical power shot. Hopefully this helped :)

you didnt even mention the piercing damage from the long range mode? the more targets you hit with it the more damage your weapon does, especially the power shot. It also builds the core super fast. in FD this is especially powerful because you can line up oodles of targets, deal out massive damage, and spam cores over and over. if you have like 5+ titans lined up, and you dump two ammo mags, you'll have a core ready. Also you failed to mention that the long range mode powershot actually has a small explosive radius which can be used to damage around a corner or a shield. The radius is small and damage drop off is severe, so its tricky to use effectively.

It seams that way but in reality because nearly all the other Titans are so much faster and can hipfire that does not matter it’s so useless taking power shot, more rounds, or sensor array is much better. Extra powershot will shred Titans in the blink of an eye and more rounds can help you over long range and sensor arrays will make that core last longer giving you more time with aimbot and unlimited ammo but the light alloys seem good in practice but are so bad in reality because as I said most Titans are faster and Legion is slow so even if you move slightly faster you still won’t outrun a ronin, northstar, tone, monarch, and ION your worst fear as a legion is ions

As both a legion and monarch main I can tell you this is very true if you see a legion the chances of winning the 1v1 is way to low I am good at monarch and have won 1v1s with legion but most of the time it’s because the legion did not know what he was doing and I did but even if legion is at half health he will win nearly every 1v1 with any other titan if the legion knows what he is doing The only titan to 1v1 legion an have a high success rate is ion just because ion has the vortex shield so if the legion keeps shooting (I have seen way to many people think the vortex shield is a normal shield and shoot right into it) then you just deal all that damage back and if you have the 35% more damage with it that legion will be dead in a few seconds

You may want to try the better shield upgrade. As far as my experience with Ion and enemy Ion pilots goes, they and me like to play it safe on her (her kit encourages this playstyle). Furthermore countering his elephant nature with the better boost engines can help You. TBH that is nearly only Titan I am using apart from the Scorch since I've watched some random gameplay and was like, OMG THIS GUN IS SO FUCKING NEAT. Also remember that You need to push/scare off the enemies from You before the reload, and never try pushing the line too fast, especially on the LTS mode. It is better to catch even whole enemy team mid choke point than having to escape through it by Yourself. Always watch out for the ammo left in the magazine and spin up the gun before dashing to the enemy. It is also the least safe Titan to attempt executions in as there is simply no way You can safely back off from the enemy ambush in this behemoth. Just gun the faggot down, less epic and satisfying but Legion is rather about the tactics and patience than shooting anything visible, surprisingly. While holding the ground always try to stay near a possible cover just in case and don't panick. 3vs1 Is not a problem for a well placed Legion.

@@kapkopx There are a lot of things wrong with what you said. 1. Best kits for legion is turbo engine + hidden compartment. They won't play safe, at least not the good ion players, they know to get close to mid distance so that you can't out range them with LR mode and since catching those power shots from LR mode only gives one bullet to reflect. In close range however, you get all 16 bullets for a bar of damage. And the ion doesn't maximize value from splitter or her tripwires if she only plays it carefully. If you are alone as legion against more than one other titan, you are gonna die faster than you can say "aggressive sustained counter fire." Any position legion takes in a setting of LTS 2v2 or greater should be with a teammate that is a strong anchor that can also push through other anchors (to defend, prevent enemies from pushing into, denying or holding an area of the map), ion and ronin are both good examples of titans that are good anchors/good at breaking anchors. Take tone for example, a really solid anchoring titan. Legion can do nothing to break her particle wall, ion, legion can do nothing to bypass ion if she is anchoring a lane, same for another legion, scorch even. That can stall a legion for such a long time whilst his teammate is alone. If legion is going up against three titans alone, he'll get focused and be a free core for the enemy and one less titan. He needs that anchor/anchor breaker to prevent him from taking all the damage from the enemy team. His gun shield still allows him to be shot in the shoulder and the left foot so it's not the greatest defensive ability. 3v1 is a problem for legion. He'll just take too much damage too quickly without dealing enough of his own. As for being well placed, if he's in a 3v1, he's already poorly placed. And he doesn't have the mobility to get out of that area, so he needs an anchor to stall the three whilst he pours led downrange and backs up to change position. Your responsibility is either that similar to a ronin but slower, or a northstar but fatter. You have those instant punish power shots. At close range they hurt the enemy a lot. As soon as you see a northstar hover, make them wish they never left the ground with a well placed LR power shot and follow up shots. They'll have a half bar and no damage to show for it. Legion does after all counter northstar. As for "pushing them off in LTS", you don't really have anything to push them off, and your reload is quite slow. A teammate should stall the engagement to cover your downtime. Everyone knows that legion is an easy target when he reloads, a ronin will wait for the reload animation, then strike! You can't just gun people down either, they'll have defensive abilities that counter your only source of damage, your gun. If you still believe your "3v1" statement, i'll get three of my competitive LTS friends, versus you alone in an LTS match with no batteries in play. Show how a "well placed legion" can handle a 3v1 with no problem. Or i could 1v1 you, no ion.

I do not negate Your knowledge nor Your experience but after a whole year I will loose no matter what. Second what I said was about "casual" matches, not über meta tryhard matches simply because this is what I was mostly playing. So You may discard my Year old comment based on that probably. And third of all, If I was still playing it would be on PC and I am kinda sure You are mostly playing on console. Fourth of all. If I recon well this comment was based on my experience which again was gained in more casual matches where the enemy team did not coordinate with their pals and it was very easy to control them with fear of getting hit. So if it is too long for You: -I had a one Year long break -I suspect You may be right as I had never ever played it competetive so I do not have as much experience. Have a good day.

Ronin isn't the easiest titan to deal with legion. If tone rushes, tone's wall will disappear and she'll eat two power shots to the face. Legion is just like a fatter monarch with more burst damage, an actual defensive ability in place of mobility and a stun ability. That and he was a more punishable reload due to it's longer animation.

Legion is a monster. Ofc super experienced players will probably destroy more titans on Ronins. But lets admit, Legion is pretty easy and simple to play. You position is 90% of the success. If you choose your position wisely, then you are the king here. You can pretty much block and lock the enemies while your team mates run towards them from another side. You can deal high damage with power shots, as a sniper. You can deliver hell lot of damage on close combats. Yes, you may eventually die but your enemy will go from a full-health titan to a semi-dead junk. So... just choose your position wisely, watch your team mates, understand their intention. Not only watch your enemies. Then if you get it right, Legion is super simple and easy to play. And what I personally love about Legion, is that it is really a psychological weapon. It forces Tons to apply their shields, getting potentially opened to attacks 6 seconds later. It makes almost any enemy run away and hide in the corner while you or your team mates reposition yourselves. It hides your team mates behind you while you're hiding behind your shield. It scares everyone away almost as much as a good Ronin does

All the other titan excell in different zones like area damage but legion came to kill. I dont like how everything is based around the Predator cannon. The core is also pretty annoying, its literally a giant, fully automatic smart pistol. Legion went from bullet equals kill to solving an equation that even Aldert Einstein couldn't solve. Legion is a unique titan, but he's an acquired taste, some people like him, some don't. I'm fine with people using legion, but it's not my cup of tea. Legion is for people who never want to stop shooting, not for people who like to get up close and personal, or keep a distance from their enemy. The only thing that I want to change with legion is, make something based on his chassis like all the other titans.

Between his reloading which feels like it takes forever, its wind up, switching modes, the charge up time on his power shot and his ADS time, along with this slow mobility, this Titan I absolutely HATE using. His damage output is pitiful and even with his core up, its just LAME damage. Compared to Tone and Monarch, I think Legion just sucks completely.

He is a difficult titan to master, but very powerful once you learn to time his power shot correctly. I really like him on frontier defense too.

Personally, for Frontier Defence, I prefer to a Monarch with Arc Rounds (Missile Racks works too), Maelstrom (You could also run Rearm and Reload) and Superior Chassis (XO-16 Accelerator is acceptable, but needs Arc Rounds) over Legion. No spin up, free shields with enemy stun and super heavy titan damage and area denial with Maelstrom. Run that with Overcore and Monarch's gonna be Tier 3, and constantly popping core for that extra smoke every minute or so.

all of these clips you've used your shield poorly and are taking massive damage because you're leaving yourself exposed. Dash dodge, shoot, shield, shoot, shield comes down, dash dodge into cover, wait for shield if taking fire or at least limit your exposure.

Seriously now, WHERE THE FUCK did legion’s creators get SO MUCH MONEY to build him? I mean, look at this shit: Superstrong armor (expensive) A big-ass megafunctional gun...(superexpesive) ...which fires a LOT of bullets per minute and legion needs unlimited amounts of them... (megaexpensive) ...which can also fire smart pellets that the smart pistol uses, but a lot bigger and faster (ULTRAEXPENSIVE) Hell, how is legion even produced in those amounts? The IMC had to destroy hundreds of planets to get recourses to build THIS MANY legions...

Same can be said for all titans. "Smart pellets" lol. No. It's the same predator cannon ammo as always, legion has a target system upgrade that when activated tracks something like foreign radio frequency with ammunition that has the potential to home in on targets that have locks on them. Why not make special ammo you might ask? Because it would be impractical. Why make special ammunition that would require special storage instead of making all ammo have the potential of being tracking ammunition?
