Nice job! I'm about to attempt to replace the valve seals on my 4G64 (never done it before). Is it difficult? Can I just remove the rocker arm assembly, then put it back on again after I've replaced the seals? Or do I have to adjust something? Thanks

Trying to do so with the head on or off?

@@dailyolds1970 Thanks for getting back to me! Going to do this with the head on. I have a running 1994 Mitsubishi pickup with the 2.4L SOHC 4G64 engine. It blows blue smoke on start ups, so I figure it's the valve seals. My skill level is basic car maintenance. I've never attempted going into an engine, but this job, on this simple engine seems do-able. I've watched KZbin vids on replacing valve seals. Bought a spring compressor and would like to use the air-compressor in the cylinder chamber method. A couple of questions you might be able to answer: 1) how much psi to keep the valves from dropping into the cylinder? 2) can I simply unbolt the rocker arm assembly, set it off to the side, then bolt it back on when I'm done with the seals? Or, will I have to adjust/reset the rocker arms? If so, how do I do that--I've never done it before. Thanks!

Sorry for the late response. You shouldn’t have to readjust valves after just unbolting the tubular rocker assembly. And be super careful when installing the new seal. Most good deal kits have a small plastic cap for installing so you don’t cut it on the valve stem. And make sure you don’t bump the valve otherwise you’re pulling the head.

@@dailyolds1970 I appreciate your response. The seal kit had the safety sleeves. And the hydralic lifters were self adjusting. All went well. I was inspired by the job you did! Thanks!

It’s a gc30k from the late 90s. It’ll be the same as an early 90s mitsu truck.
