After a few beers last night, I finally ordered. Blind watch for me. 80 quid is a bit expensive, though compared to arrow and second sight ltd editions. I don't really lose anything if I don't like the films. Value over time will only increase.

Hi Steve, good way of looking at it...if you can't stand these films you can always resell and get your money back, plus some!! I do urge you to give them a re watch each if you don't take to them at first..... I liked Anthro from day one, but after many views I love the film now, I always give a film a few whirls before deciding if it's not for me..... the film I've tried the most is Cristine by John Carpenter, tried it about 5 times over the years and I just cannot get into it 🤯🤯🤯🤣🤣 hopefully you will enjoy them Steve, but tell you what that packaging is UNREAL mate 😱😱😁😁👏👏

Both of mine arrived yesterday, along with the standard 4k of The House by the Cemetery from Arrow, and I am looking forward to watching them, I can just about remember watching Anthro and Absurd in the early 90's on bootleg VHS tapes I bought from some guy at a car boot sale... never would I have thought that 30 odd years later I would be watching these two on 4k.

Absurd looks way better than the previous Blu-Ray. That had a green tint. Anthrop looks okay, not a huge upgrade.

I agree Paul 🤩👍 the best upgrade is definitely Absurd, it's funny as they have really turned out exactly as I thought, Absurd looking excellent with deep blacks and Anthro looking better colours but very much the lesser of the 2, really happy with both Paul 🤩🤩👍👍

Great video.John.I haven't watched mine yet.I'm thoroughly looking forward to it I unfortunately was unlucky enough to have internal damage to my anthropothegous case (the lip that holds the poster, the top one was completely missing as if it snapped off and they just didn't think to replace the case) Everything else looked fine, though. I m just hoping that it was strictly a case issue and the disk is completely fine. My anxiety is just doing a number on me but I'm sure everything's fine, and it's just the case. Look forward to the deep dive. Because IM absolutely terrible at comparing special features from previous releases.

Hey John, those are some sweet looking editions there, very nice indeed. 88 Films is really upping their game hence why they're in my Top Ten of Boutique labels. While I have no interest in Anthropophagous (probably the longest single word film title I've seen), I'm sort of intrigued by Absurd as it sounds more like a detective style mystery since it's about two guys looking to stop a maniac killer. Luigi Montefiori aka George Eastman had quite the unique and varied career: actor, stuntman, Horror Legend, and writer, an interesting fellow to the say the least. The hard-shell outer cases are the way to go, so cool so many companies are picking up that type of packaging. Take care my friend, hope you and the Debs are well, and speak to you soon.

There he is again 😱😁 I agree that the ultimate special edition of single films should be encased in these hard boxes! The more of these releases the better for me Nash, as for the 2 movies Absurd is the most accessible, although for me I can't get enough of Anthro!! Don't know why exactly but I LOVE that film mate!! Just got these two in myself yesterday. Love the VHS artwork and rigid case, my only slight disappointment is they aren’t individually numbered out of 1000. My first time watching Antropophagus, and not sure why this made the prosecuted video nasty list. I guess for THAT scene, but honestly outside of that it really wasn’t too bad, even by 80s standards. Watching Absurd for the first time now.

Cheers Ralph 🤩🤩👍👍 I was thinking about this the other day, with Video Nasties now getting 4ks and other really obscure low budget Horror getting the 4k treatment then it seems inevitable that someone with turn to Hammer Horror.....however I remember when the Hammer stuff came out on Blu Ray, there was a big promise from Studio Canal that they were going to release them all but they didn't get there due to rights issues, so do Studio Canal own the rights to the ones they released before? I would love to see them in 4k as they would look amazing on 4k!!!!! But they need new masters as they are pretty old now!! So are they in limbo? 🤔 so yeah Ralph, I think it's down to sorting out who owns what before they get a 4k unfortunately! Fingers crossed it happens soon mate 🤞🤞🤩🤩👍👍👍

Thanks Andy, yeah recorded that a while back in case Keith got into any problems with the audio 🤯 honestly that's the worst part about KZbin and how it goes crazy on copyrights 🤬🤬 I think using clips of songs can promote the music and lead to sales for the artist in my opinion 👍👍 these are stunning releases!! I saw Maxxxine yesterday, and really enjoyed it 🤩🤩👍👍 although I do think that X and definitely Pearl are better films Andy 🤔🤩🤩👍👍

Hi John . Lovely releases, got mine a couple of days ago. Pity bout the awful graham Humphrey’s art work on both blu rays 🤦‍♂️. My absurd 4K disc is faulty , when I play the English ex cut I can’t get beyond the first 3-7 mins without it constantly pausing / sticking🤦‍♂️. I’ve tried numerous times now and give up, though the disc looks mint.and the picture is stunning .All my other discs play fine so it isn’t my player🤷‍♂️. Anyone else got this prob?. I’ve just emailed 88 about my problem.

I do love it when booty labels release the old style VHS covers of video nasties. However, I can't bring myself to pay £40+ two films that in my opinion are really mediocre. The beast is an absolute borefest. Absurd, I was rooting for the killer to murder that super annoying child. What is it with Italian movies and children that the audience would be quite happy for them to be brutally murdered? House by the cemetery, nightmare in a damaged brain, this film, the list goes on. I will be super happy to support any horror films that boutique labels use the old school VHS artwork, unfortunately I will be just getting the basic 4K of those two films just for completion sake.

I could not stand that kid in House By The Cemetery. I found the English dub unwatchable with that kids voice (I think it was a woman who actually dubbed him). But got a hold of the Arrow BR when it came out that included the Italian dub. Far, far better. At least I enjoy watching it now.

Fair point Flyod 🤔🤩 they are expensive releases and not for everyone, I wasn't going to pick them up for the reason, I have a lot of time for Anthro especially mate, I was told a few times it's one of the most boring nasties out there but for some reason I can't get enough of it!!
