•TRAIN I.D.: Barrie Collingwood Railway
•ENGINES: CCGX 1001 (painted in BCRY livery)
•DATE & TIME: August 29, 2022 @ 10:40
•CITY: Innisfil, Ontario, Canada
•MILE & SUBDIVISION: CN Meaford Sub (at the end of the line)
•NOTES: BCRY is a twice-weekly short line operated by Cando Rail in partnership with the city of Barrie to service some of the industries in Barrie and Innisfil. Monday and Thursday mornings, the crew picks up cars at their small yard in Utopia that were dropped off by CP (CP MacTier Sub mile 58) and begins their short journey along some very old and rusty tracks towards Barrie and Innisfil to drop off the cars, and pick up the releases to head back to the yard where CP will pick them up. At this location, it is the end of the operated track just beyond the bridge seen in the shot. Here, there is a very short runaround track (fits roughly 7 cars) that the crew uses to run around their cars to get the engine to the other side of the cars to begin their journey back to their yard in Utopia, Ontario. Beyond the runaround track, there's only enough room to fit about 2 locomotives and that's all! The rest of the rails were ripped up after CN abandoned the line many moons ago.
The BCRY is a special railway to me as they only run twice a week (sometimes only once if there's no cars to spot/pull) plus the fact that their limit is 10-15MPH, it makes it a very easy and fun train to chase. Plus, gotta love the horn on the CCGX GP9! :-)
