(4K) BEAT THANG - I Review This Cool Drum Machine / Workstation

I used to have one from 2013-2016 then I got I locked up...I've used all kinds of shit been making beats 20yrs...I fucking loved it, fuck what everybody says bad about it this machine is dope AF...it reminds of a 21st century Ensoniq ASR-X... Underrated and Before it's time...I've made str8 fire with this thing...once you learn it's workflow it's fast as shit...it's a little quirky tho and will randomly shut off it freeze occasionally so save often, I used to walk around my neighborhood when I lived in Denver with this baby hooked to up to portable speakers and Yes it got me laid a few times

Always fancied one of these What's its like for edm. Techno trance etc? Also can you use the internal sequencer with an external midi synth etc?

Does the Beat Thang transmit note information through midi to other gear? I tried to use it to sequence a synth and triggering each pad submitted the exact same note to the synth.

I’m interested in this equipment, I found one used my only concern is that I heard it’s not friendly to uploaded instruments and sounds that are not in the hardware, is that true?

I have the beatthang plugged in via usb to my PC but cant get any sound out when i play it. If youve had any experience with using beat thang with any DAW let me know id appreciate it. Techtropolis I think the question is more about is this unit worth buying in this day and age. This unit is pretty old and even when it was new it never really caught on. Not to say that you couldn’t make dope music with it but is it something worth purchasing in 2018... probably not. Better off with a laptop and a small midi controller. But if looking for something portable that you can play some ideas using some headphones or something like that then I would say it’s cool.

Yeah it's definitely not a better option than a laptop and a Maschine or midi controller but the quality of samples included in it plus the fact that it is a stand alone unit make it unique. I think they thought more producers would want to make beats on a plane or on the beach but it didn't really catch on.

It's something to buy any time if you want to make high quality beats and songs outside of a computer setting. It also has software for the computer. It is a badass drum machine and sampler etc.

Can you import your own drums or wav samples into this or do you have to use the on board drums etc ?

You can import wav sample and make you own drum kit with no problem

Hey man, do you still have this and is it still in good shape. I heard that they were glitchy and that's why they went out of business. It's ashame, because I had one of their older drum machines and they sold out of them. Mine went out on me, and I could never find another one. Is your machine glitchy at all or have you had any problems with it? Are you by any chance looking to sell it in the future?

You can like sample your own if you plug it in as an input but I don’t think directly. Not 100%
