[4K] Berlin Oberschöneweide - Monuments of the Berlin Electrical Industry

This tour shows imposing industrial facades and halls, evidence of the former center of AEG, the Berlin electrical industry.
Oberschöneweide was originally, as the name suggests, an extensive riverside meadow on the Spree. In the 1860s, the area developed into a popular excursion destination. A villa colony was planned, but failed because of the poor transportation connections at the time.
Instead, industrial development began in 1890, closely linked to AEG. AEG built a factory for accumulators there in 1890, the Oberspree power plant from 1895, a cable factory from 1896, and the New Automobile Company from 1901. An industrial agglomeration of 25 large companies and a large number of small businesses, workshops and laboratories was created. One third of the companies belonged to the electrical industry.
In GDR times it was also an important industrial site, but after the fall of the Wall 25,000 people lost their jobs here.
Since 1991, the industrial buildings from the turn of the century have been listed as historic monuments and are a focus of Berlin's preservation of industrial monuments.
Some of the buildings are still used industrially, others artistically, a large area is occupied by the Wilhelminenhof campus of the University of Applied Sciences (HTW), and quite a few structures are unused and in disrepair.
But big projects are planned for the near future.

Ich habe mich echt gefreut, ich kenn das Kabelwerk wie meine Westentasch bin zu meiner damaligen Zeit in jeder Halle drinn gewesen, meine Abteilung war erst "KA" Kraftanlagen später in "EA" umbenannt. Ich habe sogar fast alle Hallenbezeichnungen noch im Kopf und viele auch erkannt, vorallen von Minute 15:08 bis 15:27 da war unsere Wekstatt drinn (Mecahaniker der Abteilung EA) unten war eine Trinkwasserstation drinn, die Treppe links (gab nur die Eine) hoch auf der ersten Etage war unsere Werkstsatt noch eins höher unser Pausenraum und das Lager. Oben der Kran war der Schrottplatzkran, es gab zwei davon, einer Stand auf den Turm als Reserve der Andere war auf der Kranbrücker im Einsatz

Nur bei "einer der dreckigsten Städte der Welt" würde ich nicht zustimmen, dazu habe ich zu viele Gäste aus verschiedensten Teilen der Welt, die sagen, dass sie erstaunt sind, wie sauber und ordentlich es hier ist. Allerdings sind die vielen Graffiti auf den alten Steinmauern nicht schön

@@Berlin-Videos Ich möchte hier mal antworten. Sven/Steffen/Depp sollte dagewesen nicht mit dargebracht verwechseln. Und ich höre oft in Westdeutschland, Berlin sei das Kalkutta an der Spree. Ich bin mir sicher, Kalkutta/Kolkata wäre gern mal Berlin am Ganges. In der Berliner Zeitung war vor einiger Zeit eine Doppelseite über wirklich verdreckte Kinderspielplätze, alle in grünregierten Stadtbezirken. Ich hatte mir nun den in der Dossestraße angeschaut - Dreck wie eh und je! Da kommen natürlich nicht die vielen Gäste aus verschiedensten Teilen der Welt vorbei.
